Don't you need 2 analog sticks though? That always bugged me about the Dreamcast. Such a big mistake.

Not maxed out, takes developers at least 3-4 years to max out a system, sometimes longer (God of War 2 on the PS2 for example, maxed out the system 7 years later).JetLagz28
God of War 2 didnt max out the Ps2, games like FFX and Gran Turismo had pushed it to itsd graphical limits years before.

actuallly yes , , the super nintendo etertainment went beyond its limits lol thanks to super fx chip ,

to answer your question , there was alot of games ment to hit the dream cast, and jsrf was not one of them ,jsrf went to the xbox , ,

max payne got canned, i wouldnt doubt if alot of unannouced titles were in development but canned without us knowin,

there wasnt 007games on dc lol , notice that,

i think saturn made things worst for sega,

ive read somthing about the world is not enough was bein re made for ps2 could that have been the dcs 007 title, i dont know lol but it ended up bein canned,

in favor of gent under fire,

so ya , dc could have and should ha ve ran its four years, why is it nintendo had hard times, with n64 and gc, but they came back with wii and just like that they hit the top ,

i cant explain it,

[QUOTE="nVidiaGaMer"]Soul Calibur maxed out the dreamcast. PS2 > Dreamcast anyday.RELL1K
Yeah except it wasn't the PS2 that ruined it for the Dreamcast it was the PSONE. I back SpaceMountain8's comment about uneducated consumers buying PsOnes that lead the the Dreamcast's demise. Think where we would be had the Dreamcast been a success? Our current gen systems would be more powerful than they are today IMO.

um no ps1 wasnt even competing with dc nothing was,

heres the rundown on the 7th(current) 6 th last and 5th gen

7th gen = psp ds ps3 360 wii (wii being the top seller as of last year)

6th gen which was segas last, dc ps2 xbox gc gba dc may have been released when n64 and ps1 still were out that doesnt mean dc competed directly with these, look at ps2 still out with the current 7th gen consoles/handhelds,

5th gbc n64 ps1 sega cd and saturn , the sega cd was an addon there was also a 32x add on for geneisi , this is their major mistake, which lead sega down the road o demise, as you see , saturn was the one that competed against the 32 and 64 bit era systems, snes and genesis , as well as gb were still getting a few titles here and there but that was 4th gen equipment

so ya,

dreamcast wasnt meant to be released at the time it was, they rushed it, look at xbox360 ,similarities right there the only difference is microsoft already had steady growth , but the later released console. wii gave them a fight they lost , lol,

i can already tell you, wii is this ges winner , why

1 when a console is released, theirs not normally this big of demand 2 yrs or less in ,

the demand uisually stops in 6 months, but when was the last time you saw a wii sitin on shelves,

honestly , i havent seen a new wii , since i got my 2nd one lol, i took the last one then , and i too k the first launch unit in my area lol,

so from now, until christmas, its still hard to find a wii ,

and analyst nor nintendo dont expect the demand to die any time soon ,

2 the library already exceeds 1000

3 it brings back all the old stuff and the new stuff as well,

but ya, if dc would have done what nintendo has done that is learn from mistakes,

3 consoles aimed at only one market will not work , 4 was ridiculous,

so thats why wii is still sellin,

people buy 2 consoles this gen because , wii offers different things or games then 360 or ps3,

dreamcast whille it was good, it aimed at the same market nintendo did good in and sony got off the ground in , that is their 2nd mistake, they did nothing apart from the online service whic ps2 and xbox got later,

that isnt enough ,

dc really needed original titles, not just the usual sonic or panzer or phantasy star online, and they had to much fighting games ,

also how much did a dc cost, any one recall that, gc costed 199.99 ps2 and xbox costed 299.99 i think dc was 349.99 also their controller didnt have as many buttons as gc xbox dc n64 or ps2/ps1 controllers not even as much as a snes controller, they tossed the select button,

so ya, if snes intrudoced a stick it to would have 1 extra button ,

so ya, its controller was the ain problem for 3rd party because , goldeneye alone required the stick , 4 c buttons (the gc substituted c buttons with c stick) so a 2nd stick would have worked out, also , there wasnt a 3rd button to shoot with,

quite possibly reason for the unreal cancelation is the lack of controller function buttons,

I think that everyone should just remember that part of what a console can handle is all in the coding.

You could make an N64 game, or worse, "max out" a PS2, if you coded it in the right way.  It's all about efficient coding.

I would have to say the only way to tell what it could have handed would be by actually making bench mark tests with still rendered screens, FMVs, and et cetera.

I honestly think that the Dreamcast was stuck in between generations.  It was niether of the PS2/Gamecube generation (Though often called that), nor of the N64 Generation.

A natural lifespan would, at most, put it at 2004-2005.  I would say, most likely, 2003 or 2002.

Anyways, the Dreamcast was ahead in many ways, including wireless play and content - which you didn't have to pay through the nose for!

You know microsoft would charge you for a ruby chao.  Darn microsoft.
