The DS is the lead handheld gaming system out there, for both casual and hardcore gamers. The 360 is the lead ( not inclouding the wii ) hardcore gaming system. So basicly they share almost the same audince. while the price is clearly not the problem, having to choose one is a difficult situation specially while thinking of games. while both systems got great games, my friend needs to buy only one. so which system is to get between those two if the only important things are the games ?

The DS and the 360 don't share the same audience the DS has sold 25 million more console's in Japan and thats why its gets all the great Japanese franchise. But if all your friend cares about is generic shooters then tell him to get a 360.

These are two very different systems, you can't really say that because they are both popular they appeal to the same crowd.

Before your friend starts picking out games, think of which system fits their life better. Are they looking for something portable or a home console? do they travel a lot? which will they get the most use out of? Also, even if the price of the system doesn't matter, think long term- new 360 games can be $60, new DS games are about $35.Then, think about the types of games you want to play. Theres an amazing array of FPS on the 360, but not so much on the DS. If classic, oldschool RPGS are your thing than you might be happier with the DS after all.
