Happened to me with White Knight Chronicles. When I first played the game a long time ago I thought it was the most boring P.O.S. game ever created. Then my brother bought #2 that comes with #1.....and I'm having a ton of fun playing it.

Kind of mad at myself for getting rid of the game.

Dynasty Warriors 7. I got stuck on one of the stages, said to hell with it, came back to it a month later, and put nearly 70 hours into it (67 to be exact). Has to be one of my favorite 360 games now.

I sorta feel that way about Okami except I don't hate it, but it grows on me when I play it.

Not exactly what the OP asked, but I regret trading in The Last Remnant. In terms of setting and aesthetics, it's not as bland as I thought and the gameplay is great. Wish I still had it.

Valkyria Chronicles. I hated it because the game seemed broken and didn't play right. LOL. Found out later that I played the game wrong. i tried to play it like a shooter and not a strategy game. Once i played it like a strategy game it was easy as pie.

Not this generation no. I'm hoping it happens with GTAIV because I still can't get into that game and I'd like to complete it.

The first time I played Shenmue though I didn't much care for it. Then I tried it again a few months later and it's one of my favorite games of all time now.

InFamous 1 comes to mind. Played the demo, thought it was crap. Bought the game and played through it, still thought it was crap. Played it through again about 8 months later, thought it was amazing. I don't really understand how it happened. But now it's one of my favourite PS3 exclusives.

Fallout 3 for me.

I rented it, after having heard good thing about it. I got out of the vault, wandered around the wasteland for a little while then got murdered by mutant ants. Called it quits, returned it and went on living my life.

About a year later, i found a cheap copy and decided to give it another go. Ended up loving it.

Can't think of anything, but the closest would be GTA IV. I couldn't get into it when I first started it, about six or seventh months later I picked it up and couldn't put it down.

The PC version is fairly cheap and it fixes most of the 360 version flaws while adding extra stuff and increasing the overall difficulty of the game so if you have a gaming PC then get it, it's pretty good.

Fallout 3

I got too caught up in finding everything and finding all the quests that I forgot to explore the game. I put the game away for awhile and restarted and got caught up in the atmosphere and creating my own story than playing a game. From exploring I found so many neat little details that turned a Fallout ripoff into a very fun game.

Final Fantasy Tactics for PS1. Got destroyed in the earlier missions of the game and got frustrated. Shelved it for like 2 years. Found it my junior year of high school in some old box, booted it up, and couldn't stop playing. One of my favorite games of all time now.

FFXII. The first time I played though it the gambit, license board and loot systems irritated me endlessly, and I found the story uninteresting. Replayed it last month and recognized how good the game actually was.

Not recently, but I had an experience like that back when Neverwinter Nights 1 was new. I bought it shortly after release, played a couple of hours but was bored to death with the beginning. Picked it up again for a new try a few months later and fell in love with it, I think I played through the campaign twice in a row.

Same for me. I think I just found it a bit overwhelming at first, you are essentially just dumped into this massive world and left to your own devices. I stowed it away for ages, until I got sick one week and decided to bring it out. It was like crack after a few hours, I couldn't put it down!

Fallout 3

When I first got my Playstation Fallout 3 had been out for I guess about 6 months and was reduced in price, and given how many people were saying what a good game it was I decided to get it. I played it the first time and absolutely hated it, just thought the controls were awkward, the aim was all off, and etc etc etc (basically any complaint you here from someone only just starting out playing it). Over the following year and a half I must have tried numerous times to play it but for some reason I just found myself hating the game, and unable to play it.

Anyway earlier this year I thought I'd try it again, and have really enjoyed it, so much so I bought the game of the year edition too for the DLC as it works out cheaper than buying it individually and have bought Fall Out New Vegas which I am also enjoying despite some of the problems the game has.

I do that for a couple of games that I get stuck on. I just end up losing interest then come back months later and manage to beat that area and end up liking the game in the end.
