I thought it was Famicon, not Famicom, but no, never owned one stuck with the NES

nope its Famicom with an "m". Because well it stood for "Family (Fami) Computer (Com)". And your NES that you stuck with was essentially the same thing.

i still own a famiclone launched in the late 80s called family game, it looks almost exactly like the famicom only it had 42 games in its memory and no region lock

never heard of that though
