Favorite older games

Hello GS, this is my first post here, and I hope it is a good one! All you do is post your favorite older game and a reason why it's so good! Here is mine:

Halo: Combat Evolved

This is just a flat-out amazing game. Great controls, weapons and game play, with a good story, the list goes on. The graphics and AI need a little work, but not much. Overall, totally awesome!

Heroes of Might and Magic 3

Still the best in the series and it's still as great as it supposed to be.

Fallout 2

Still nothing like it.

I'll stop before I use 30 mins on this one post. I could also list a ton of Virtual Console games :D

Halo: CE is not really an "older game"... it's only one generation old.

I'll second RK-Mara here and say Fallout 2, if you have not played this game, you need to purchase it (it runs on pretty much any computer these days), and then put your life on hold for a few weeks while you play through it.

Problem is that Halo CE is a bit like CS:S - it's actively played still online on PC, and is brought at LAN parties. Halo CE died on the Xbox when Halo 2 released (LIVE vs tunneling... wasn't really a competition). If you're still a fan of it, I'd suggest getting the PC version, I stopped playing it about six months ago myself, but there were still tons of servers when I left.

You're lucky, your "favorite" is still current :P.

Now if you mean Halo CE on Xbox, I do miss the LAN parties with that, now it's Halo 3, which is a much better game than Halo 2 (lightyears ahead) but still not as great as Halo CE (or rather, Halo CE was a better game relative to the other games at the time)

I'd say FFVII, but if we're talking actual old-school games, then most likely FFIV :D

I could go on and on because there are so many great classic games, but I'll stop here.

Hasent anyone here ever played StarCraft? It'soutrageous that it hasnt been mentiond yet! Another great classic was Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders.
