I was planning on getting this game, but I heard that the GBA rendition pales in comparison to the "mighty SNES version." Is it that bad? I don't want to wind up getting an inferior version of an already excellent game so I've heard. And I don't have an SNES. Is it going to get a 3D outing for the DS like FFIV?

There has been no news of a DS rendition. As for the GBA vesion, I skipped on that one only because the music has taken a hit. It might not be a big deal to some, but the music in FFVI is some of my favorite VG music. I don't feel I should buy games that are inferior to the original when I can just get the original.

Buy it if you want the extra that SNES don't have, otherwise stick to SNES.

The music may have taken a hit, and they censored one scene that wasn't so in the SNES version (a soldier punches Celes while she's chained to the wall), but the translation is better, and there's a decent amount of new content.

Its not bad per-se, but it was a dissapointment. The music did take a hit like mentioned, and IMO the extra dungeon was a let-down. But if you can get it for a good price, and dont already have the SNES version, pick it up.

I thought it was much better than the original. The translation is better, although it would be have been better if they would have completely rewritten it.

Oh and I think most of the music sounds better than the original.

I personally think it was good. I think some people nit pick too much when it comes to the GBA version.

I haven't played the GBA port of VI myself but I've got IV and V and they're great. I've got the PSone and SNES versions of VI and if those and my expreience with the GBA ports are anything to go by, I'd say go for the GBA one.

Those would be the FF fanboys, don't listen to them and buy the game.

These are all minor gripes compared to not being able to play one of the finest RPGs of the 16-bit era...maybe even of any era. Get the game.
