So, I finally got to the final act of Final Fantasy 15, and here’s my current thoughts on what it does and doesn’t do well.

Pros:

– ABSOLUTELY gorgeous scenery to behold! The graphics are top-notch, the art style is very much Final Fantasy, and there’s not a single place that looks harsh on the eyes.

– Main story is simple, easy to follow, and well-written for the most part, though it still JRPGs about as hard as any other JRPG.

– Great sympathetic characters all around, including the main 4 of Gladiolus, Noctis, Ignis, and Prompto. They really do seem like they’ve been friends for years, and their banter is downright entertaining to listen to.

– In spite of what he looks like, Noctis is a good main protagonist. He only angsts whenever needed for the plot, and has a great sense of humor about most anything he encounters.

– Heart-pounding, non-stop action style gameplay that’s easy to learn, yet has enough depth to really get the most out of each encounter. Plus, it looks flashy as hell.

- The magic system, while weird at first, makes for good tactical options before or during battle, and fits the more action-based combat.

– Unique leveling mechanic that forces you to pause and figure out when is the right time to keep going or rest and gain experience for tougher encounters.

– Partner AI is pretty good at keeping itself alive and delivering successful tactics…most of the time.

– Leveling and advancement system is well designed and feels as though you’re growing in power as opposed to fiddling around with specific builds.

– Ignis’s cooking. Seriously, that shit makes me super hungry every time I look at it.

– Prompto’s snapshots throughout the adventure. That is all.

– Lots of side quests to gain loot from, including the return of monster hunts from Final Fantasy 12 (my personal favorite game in the series).

Cons:

– Combat camera tends to go all over the place. Doesn’t help that the lock-on isn’t as tight as in other games.

– (iffy) Voice acting, while pretty good overall, tends to go towards the campy side at times. Take it however you will.

– Partner AI sometimes stands right in the danger zone and gets KO’d too quickly.

– While well-written, the story kinda struggles by the final act, feeling a bit rushed when things start to get interesting.

– Certain awesome characters needed more development shown, especially the awesome main villain.

– Wait mode feels completely unnecessary if you’re used to action games, and too wonky if you’re not.

– Dungeons could’ve been better implemented. They feel too linear and short compared to the rest of what the game offers.

What are everyone else’s opinions, in case you played the game? I personally am loving every minute of the game, in spite of the more obvious flaws.

You know my stance.

The story is passable.

The game play is shallow as it comes. No real depth

Overpowered magic.

The graphic is nice but nothing really stand out to me as cool to look at.

It is sad when the best part of the game is the auto travel.

Luckily I never listen to your opinions on any RPG, cuz I feel differently than you every time.

While not high on my favourite Final Fantasy games list it is a really good game in general. It looks and sound excellent, totally love how you can collect all the various Final Fantasy soundtracks to listen to. I haven't found one for Mystic Quest though which is a damn shame because it rocks. The combat is good until you get 5 or more enemies and then it can sometimes get a bit too chaotic. Camera is annoying as even when fighting outdoors you can occasionally get looking at a close up view of a bush instead of a clear view of the battle. Story is good but there are some serious gaps in its telling. There is so much wasted potential in Chapter 14 that it's almost painful. I like the crafting aspect of the magic system however executing it in battle is pretty annoying. Love the summons but I'd rather have more of them and be able to use them at will at the cost of reducing their potency. All in all a very good game but a bit disappointing in the Final Fantasy lineage. Hopefully the dlc can fix some of this.

All right! I've been playing FFXV non stop for coupla weeks now, and decided it was time to give my impressions on the game.

-did not see official review thread here, so I'll just put it all here...

All in all, FFXV is a stunning, awesome experience. It's just so high quality all round, for a JRPG.

I just love the visuals. The scenery, the monsters, the cars, it all looks so darn awesome on my PS4.

Gameplay is great. Battle system felt odd at first, but when I learned to use it, it became perfect. Great for grinding too, as it makes battles fast paced.

The lack of magic is ok to me, as I've never cared for spell slingers anyways.

Story is the usual JRPG stuff. Nothing new there.

Game world is big. Really big. I'm glad there is a car... And as for the car, I just love to sit back, let Ignis do the driving, and just enjoy the scenery while the soundtrack of FFVII blasts from the speakers.

The crew. I like them all. More you get to know them, more you feel for them.

It's not a perfect game, though. Just like every other FF and JRPG, FFXV has few really annoying features to it, but given how brill the game is otherwise, I can overlook them.

FFXV is a true FF experience. Amazing game (this far anyways). Everyone should buy this one.

I really enjoyed what Final Fantasy 15 was. It was a simplistic story but it worked, unlike the mess that was Final Fantasy 13. I also liked how I started caring for the 3 amigo's more and more as I played. They may not have been the most interesting characters from the series, but I grew attached to them very quickly.
