I recently picked up Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven for the PS2 and couldn't find an option to enable progressive scan in the options. So I did some research and it seems like the game supports it but when I tried the hold triangle & X button -> power on system, it still outputs at 480i.

I have component cables running to an LCD TV and I have my PS2 set to 16:9, YPbPr, widescreen output. Am I doing something wrong or does this game not support 480p widescreen?

The High Definition Game Database is usually a good resource for checking 480p support; although due to the entries being user submitted, they are not always correct.

I did a search for Tenchu, and unfortunately the game you mentioned is listed as not having 480p support.

If the game doesn't have a progressive option in it's options menu then it will most likely support anything higher.

Not true. Tekken 5 can display in 480p, but there is nothing in the options.
