Let's shout out the names of some excellent classic games that time forgot. Who knows, maybe people will start talking about sequels down the road...
Here's some great forgotten no one ever talks about:

Clash at Demonhead (NES)
Karnov (NES)
Legendary Wings (NES)
Blaster Master (NES)

If you can add any to this list, please do. Hopefully it'll spark some cool memories.

Psi-Ops is pretty fun. There's something really great about facing a guy hiding behind a crate, picking up the crate with your mind, and throwing it at him. Unfortunately the game gets a little boring near the end. But it's pretty cheap now so if you're looking for a fun action game with a unique twist, check it out.

Freedom Fighters is a great squad based third person shooter that has a simple squad mechanic that makes it easy for people used to "point, shoot, repeat" FPS's to play. The reason I'm so bad at most stradegy games is that they are very complex and slow paced. Freedom Fighters combines fast paced, white knuckle action with thoughtful strategy. I highly recommend people try and buy this game since it's pretty cheap now.

As for forgotten games, I think Landstalker is a great game that many people don't know about.

Panzer_Zwei

Some of them couldn't possibly be considered good :P. And I'd like to argue that there are still some games that are forgotten. Faria was a pretty decent game, but how many people have heard of it? I'm guessing 38 people, including the development team and reviewers :P.

Certainly not Shenmue nor Lords of Thunder, Lunar, Panzer Dragoon and so on.

If you make any thread on the internet about what games deserve sequels, you will have a bunch of people mentioning Shenmue. You could also argue that not many people had a Turbo Duo/Mega CD in the first place, but for those people most games on those systems could be considered forgotten then. Which is not the case, and specially those games are some the most popular games on those systems.

Those games are pretty good, even if some of them haven't aged too well. *glares at Panzer Dragoon* (It's still good, it just shows its age.)

I don't follow your logic, but I'll assume it attempts to refute my point. So I'll respond as if it does: I still believe there are good games that people either forgot or just never knew about.

Eh, I'm sure I could name a few, like Skyblazer, Guardian Heroes (eh, maybe not. The game's become one of those popular/unpopular games), Little Samson, Dragon Quest III (all the love goes to IV), Bucky o'Hare, etc.

I know it's on the Virtual Console, but Balloon Fight for the NES was probably my favorite game as a kid. It just had this vibe that would make me utterly delighted. At least from what I've seen, no one really talks about that game.

Well, this game isn't really forgotten ,but I think the dev's forgot some of us like are RPG's without the 6 yr olds running around the game screaming stupidity.

I'd like to see Phantasy Star return to it's roots, and ditch the- Many Morons' Online- gameplay that has taken over the once fabled series

Fear Effect (PS1) Parasite Eve (PS1) Brave Fencer Musashi (PS1) Xenogears (PS1) Zone of Enders (PS2) The Suffering (multiple platforms) Max Payne (multiple platforms) Dino Crisis (PS1) The Bouncer (PS2) ... Ironically, most of the "forgotten" games are actually from the 32-bit/128-bit eras. These games haven't been around long enough to receive classic status, but they've been out long enough that the hype train has long since moved on passed them.

There's a game called Urban Chaos (not to be mistaken with Riot Response) on the PC. I lost the game, but damn was it a solid game. I can't find a copy even now.

(Is it just me or is the linking in GS broken? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.)

I believe Final Fantasy 7 has been overlooked too often, it was a great game. No, no, in all seriousness, Kirby's Dream Land, the game that Kirby first starred in, isn't mentioned enough. It was short and easy, but the fast paced levels and fun boss battles made it a classic to me.

You might also check out the the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive collection for the PS2 if you don't already have it. You can get it dirt cheap, and it's a good hold over until the oddly named PS3 version comes out.

I guess when we say forgotten, it all depends on the perspective. :P I just can't seem to remember any games I forgot about remembering in the first place, or I would have remembered what I'd forgotten about...what was the question? One of my all time fav's is Star Control for the 3DO. I know it was on the PC.... That game kept me playing even with one of the worst flue's I'd ever had. If you have a 3DO, it's worth looking up.
