Really, why is this guy not working at microsoft jet ? they seem a perfect fit.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Hah yeah no, gamers love seamlessly integrated online features in their games. Dark Souls and Demon's Souls multiplayer aspects are a perfect example of this. However if I was forced to be online to be able to play either of these games at all, they would be getting nothing but hate.
Yeah....I could learn to love having sex with a cheese grater too, doesn't mean I'm in any rush to try it.
lol this idiot thinks always online gaming is good? i hope he realizes not everyone in the world has an internet connection.............

no wonder he is called former ceo
Hardcore gamers: "These gaming companies are so stupid because they don't listen to us and don't give us what we want, even though we don't mean much in the grand scheme of things anymore and most of us will buy it anyway. Those idiots...we'll show them...one day. When I quit gaming. They'll see...but first I wanna check out this new E3 coming up. Yah baby!!!"
He's right. You will. Because what he means by that is you have no choice and when it's said all and done because everyone will have it. And just like Steam fans sell it to everyone else, you will eventually be selling this yourself for them. You'll take it. We'll all take it. We have been taking it for years now. They know you better than you know yourselves. They got old watching you grow up and learning more about you than maybe even your own parents. So just go ahead and give them your money.
You know you will anyway...

Steam is on an open platform of hardware that they don't own and anyone can utilize however they see fit. Where a console is fully owned by a single entity, who can be entirely arbitrary in their decisions and restrictions. Leaving the people who bought the hardware with no recourse other than to spend several hundreds of dollars on a new piece of hardware.
Â
Steam is also very "user-centric" in it's business model. Often acting as a buffer between the user and keeping publishers and developers from stepping over the line.
Â
If you can't see the huge difference between the two then anything I would say further would fall on deaf ears.

What i think it's funny is that you think videogames are an investment.
You spend your own money to purchase and play games, which has an effect (no matter how small) on what games and policies happen in the future. How is that not an investment?[QUOTE="alexwatchtower"][QUOTE="ThaneKrios28"] thats funny neither you or the guy from forbes know what i think and what i invest my money into. you or forbes dont speak for me1PMrFister

I see stocks as an investment. Not videogames. If you consider it, it would be a bad one since they constantly devalue. Â It's a product. It's something we consume.

What? I never reported anybody. Please stop making things up.
As a matter of fact if you're going to accuse someone of something like that, you should provide some proof. False accusations suck.
There is a reason why the former chief executive officer of Electronic Arts no longer works at Electronic Arts. One may speculate the cause and be sure to rememberhis comment about digital rights management.BranKetra
Yea, i first tought he was gone because of bad sales from certain franchises
But im starting to think this guys hate for consumers is even to extreme for EA.

Better luck next timeWe all loved Sim City and Diablo.

Many people came out of the woodwork and defended those games to the death, labelling those who complained as entitled and whiney. Â I have no doubt many of those morons will support what any company throws their way to trample their rights and treat them like sh!t will bend over and ask for more. Â Simcity and DIII have taught me that there is no lack of pushovers and dipsh!ts everywhere, and this is why we're losing our rights left and right.

Reports just say "hey mods, please look at this" and the mods decide what to do. Which is why you don't ever get to see who reported you (IF you were actually reported, that is), because it's irrelevant to everything. Anyways, when I read the original Kotaku article, I didn't take away what PC Gamer seemed to get out of it at all. I think there's a reason the fella's out of a job, certainly, but his main point is that these kinds of experiences should be managed less like walled gardens and provide more benefits to the customer for being the way they are. The problem, which I don't think he understands, is that not every game is improved by being that way, gamers don't want every game to be like that, and you kill the game's longevity if it can't be played if the servers go down. Personally, I want each game I own to be something that my future children could potentially play, even if they're just limited to a relatively simple offline mode. It's one of the many reasons why I stay away from paying money for an MMO of any sort, let alone get emotionally invested in one.Â

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't read the rest of the thread. I normally do, but I was pissed he acknowledged the same joke I wanted to make immediately.
[QUOTE="Minishdriveby"][QUOTE="Justforvisit"]Every day I hear more disheartening new from some corporate branch of this industry, be it Nintendo, Microsoft, Ubisoft, EA, Activision, Sony, etc. They'll all f*ck you over at some point, and they'll do it behind smiling PR drivel telling you they're your friend. There's always retrogaming Which I've been strongly thinking about doing instead of going forward. We'll see what E3 brings as of right now Nintendo is still in my good favor. Sony may be depending on how their console works.
Nah, just Ricitello is ;)Black_Knight_00
