Hardcore gamers: "These gaming companies are so stupid because they don't listen to us and don't give us what we want, even though we don't mean much in the grand scheme of things anymore and most of us will buy it anyway. Those idiots...we'll show them...one day. When I quit gaming. They'll see...but first I wanna check out this new E3 coming up. Yah baby!!!"

He's right. You will. Because what he means by that is you have no choice and when it's said all and done because everyone will have it. And just like Steam fans sell it to everyone else, you will eventually be selling this yourself for them. You'll take it. We'll all take it. We have been taking it for years now. They know you better than you know yourselves. They got old watching you grow up and learning more about you than maybe even your own parents. So just go ahead and give them your money.

You know you will anyway...

Consumers have a choice and they should start exercising that choice rather than being mindless fanboys that take what ever a corporation dishes out.

Which I've been strongly thinking about doing instead of going forward. We'll see what E3 brings as of right now Nintendo is still in my good favor. Sony may be depending on how their console works.Minishdriveby
Yeah, I mean, even if the whole industry went into pig shit we can still go back to the good old times. At least no one can take that away.

Yeah I just don't get this idea that "Oh you'll get over it and go along with it". People told me the same thing when Marvel Comics started getting stupid as hell with so many of it's big characters. I said on those boards I was probably going to move on after being a comic book reader, especially of Marvel stuff like Iron Man, since I could read at all. "Nah, you say that, but you'll be like the rest of us, you'll sacrifice your principles and come along quietly and keep giving them your money". Well, quite a few years on now, and they haven't gotten a penny, and I can't remember the last time I read a comic book. Hell I was playing nothing but VC games on a Wii for nearly a year not too long ago. (finally beat the original Castlevania on NES!) Enjoyed myself quite a bit. Great games age like fine wine, and I have thousands upon thousands to choose from.

Personally I would go through other methods of getting classics than using the Wii e-Shop service.

I probably wouldn't.  Yes It's easier to just download an emulator and download an entire gaming library in one huge torrent.  But when companies see that their retro-gaming offers are selling very well and their big new high budget, over hyped game is floundering, it sends a pretty clear message.

"Hey we should tie everything to a console/generation of consoles. That way people have to buy everything again when the new generation comes out. People love retro games and this way they'll keep buying them" say one corporate fat cat. "Great Idea. I'll tell Jim to get on that now." says the other. I'm looking at you PSN/XBLA and to a lesser extent Nintendo e-Shop.

Now that's a scary though lol

Well, I said strange, not great. That probably would've been weirder... and less accurate. Self-deprecation is fun. :P ... Wait, I mean :(

For some games I do use alternative means, but I like to send a message with my money sometimes.
