Franchise comparisons are a great topic EMERALD, thanks for posting this.
(don't even know where to begin...brain overloading!)

I actually had a "franchise comparison" of sorts with a friend the other day, only we were essentially discussing Capcom vs Konami
Basically, my best friend's favorite publisher/dev is Capcom, while mine is Konami.
During the conversatoin, we basically compared the two companies similar or genre similar franchises.

Personally, in almost every genre or similar franchise comparison, I prefer KONAMI over CAPCOM :

CastleVania > Mega Man
Contra > Bionic Commando
Silent Hill > Resident Evil
Suikoden > Breath of Fire
Gradius > 1942/1943
Metal Gear Solid > Devil May Cry

As for the comparisons you listed, I honestly don't/didn't play alot of those since I don't play racing/fighting/beat'em'up titles much.

That said.....
