I'm wondering what's ur all's opinion of which games - sort of "define" a True Gamer?

From the Top of my Head - COD comes to mind. Not just Multiplayer Team Deathmatch or Free for All,
but Search and Destroy--really tests who are the better gamers?

That's just aquick example, and My Opinion obviously.

How bout u all? I don't play much RTS - but I'm sure the new C&C-has some real gamer aspects to it? Halo probably. .

How bout some others?

And when I say True Gamer and games of such - I mean, think of "Pro" Games. StarCraft, Doom 3, that sort of thing...

Well first I have to ask what a "true gamer" is. In my opinion, that's someone who has fun playing games, and does it regularly. So I know it's a bit of a side-step answer, but any game that a gamer enjoys are "games for true gamers". Unless you mean games that test true gamers skill? In that case it's subjective to how skilled the gamer is I guess

Plants vs. Zombies and Bookworm both come to mind as really excellent games for "True" gamers.

Haha-G1, I know it sounds like a goofey question - but it's interesting to know what others think when they talk about being a gamer and what sort of games they'd consider to be Hardcore types..

Seriously what's with all these pretentious threads? When did gamers become "true gamers" and "non-true gamers"? Isn't a gamer someone who plays games, be it Minesweeper or Cryostasis? So TC a gamer for a "true gamer" would be any game that gamer has fun playing. Me I like everything from text adventures through to the modern masterpieces. So Zork and Uncharted 2 come to mind.

Not trying to be pretentious..But I'm sure u know what I mean when folks refer to themselves as "True Gamers" . For example, I'm sure u've seen teh online show "PurePwnage" ?

CS Source is mentioned a lot, COD4 and even Mario Brawl. Yesi'd say u can refer to urself however u'd like, and I play all sorts of games..

My mother for example Loves Wii bowling - but that dosen't mean she's a hardcore gamer . .

My definition would be - Gaming is what ur known for. U've grown up from genre to genre, know actual history of games and which game manufacturers are better and so on . .

Also, out of all that, u also know which games are more competitive than others! !

I've been playing games since the Atari 2600 days. I currently own an Atari, 2 Dreamcasts, a Wii, a PS3, and a high end PC. I love video games, I play them a lot, but I'd never consider myself better than some random guy who just mucks around on the Wii now and then. A lot of the time when I read these forums it looks to me like "hardcore" means doesn't have a life. I work, and I fit the rest of my life around that. If being hardcore means you fit the rest of your life around games I'm as softcore as they come. :P

huh I invented "true gamer" and its the definition only I can give - you just need to let me shoot you in the face for a few hundreds games (without moving)

then Ill decide whether your worthy of my official ritual of the true gamer promotion

U may not consider urself better than some random person who "mucks" around once n a while, but I bet u are better than them...And I go back to teh Atari and Commodore days myself and have owned all teh consoles from then to the present. Growing up us kids used to always try and compete with each other to see who could get a top score or who was better at Tekken.

Nothing wrong with saying ur good at gaming or better than average. And to also add which games u really have to UP ur game a little to achieve some Pwnage status...

If there was a game that defined "True Gamer", it certainly wouldn't be COD. Never in a million years.

So TC a "true gamer" by your definition only plays games to beat other people but hasn't made it as a pro? So people who play single player tactical RPGs (etc) no matter how good they are at them could never be a "true gamer"?

Your just going to irritate a lot of people by trying to define what a "true gamers" is. If you are talking about competative or hardcore or pro, you should have said that instead.

In order to become an O.G. (Original Gamer) you've got to beat Battletoads and discover the exact location of the 'missing' Atari E.T. cartridges that were burried in New Mexico in 1984. (One quick Gamefaq check is allowed.)

Well this thread is going no where fast...There is a difference between gamers (or you call 'Ture Gamers') and people who just play games now and again to pass the time. to answer your question - any game which is good (gets above 7/10 as an average from multiple reviewers) just depends on what kind of gamer you are (and im not talking causla hardcore or any of that crap, i mean fps, rts, rpg)

True gamers would mean winning a game(s) w/o using any guides or cheats in the most difficult level, that's it!
