What are some games you played when you were a kid that you remember fondly, and have even gone back and repurchased (assuming you got rid of them in the first place)? The following games were some awesome games from my childhood that a have great memories of playing:

Jurassic Park (Sega Genesis): First off, I sucked hardcore at this game, however I really didn't care because of how awesome I thought it was to play as a Raptor and tear apart other dinosaurs and people. I also was obsessed with dinosaurs when this game was fairly new so it was a game that I loved playing.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Sega Genesis): I liked the previous 2 Sonic games for the Genesis that came out prior to Sonic 3, however it was this third installment that created a lifelong love affair with the Sonic franchise. I specially remember playing through Marble Gardens dozens of times because it was a level I was stuck on for the longest time. I was so proud of myself for beating it, however I never progressed past the stage afterwards, until this past year when I revisited the game.

Super Mario 64 (N64): Perhaps the best X-Mas I ever had was when I got my N64 along with a copy of Super Mario 64. I was 9 when I got this game and I'm pretty sure it took me like 2-years to beat the final Bowser, but I loved every second of getting there. I remember particularly being totally blown away by the 3D graphics and awesome gameplay. It was also my first Mario game, and spawned a life-long love affair with the franchise.

I have many more, but those ones stick out in my mind more than the rest.

Pokemon Blue and Silver were my all time favorite games as a kid. Some other games that left a huge impact on my childhood are Donkey Kong Country 1 and 3 (my parents never bought me 2 unfortunately), Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Kart, and Contra III: The Alien Wars. It was fun growing up with the Game Boy and SNES. :)

Comfort Blanket Games? Without a doubt:

-Super Mario World

-Star Fox

-Donkey Kong Country

-Sonic 1

-Sonic 2

-General Chaos

-Link to the Past

-Twisted Metal

-Twisted Metal 2

-Mario 64

-Wave Race

-Blast Corps

***I've probably made a similar list countless times on this forum. I recently just finished Sonic 1 for the first time in ages. Great game. I'd play it here and there, but going from start to finish gives that full circle feeling. I'm going to start Sonic 2 next, and off the bat I'll say I remember preferring Sonic 2, but some of the artistic choices in the first game are so ace that I have a feeling I might change my mind.

I'll just mentioned those that defined my childhood:

Almost every MSX game I own. Too many to count.

Mario World, Pilotwings, Street Fighter II, Sim City, Aladdin, The Lion King, Goof Troop, Super Soccer, NBA: TE, Prince of Persia, Batman Returns (SNES)

Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA, Clockwork Knight, Sonic 3D Blast, Megaman X4 (Sega Saturn)

I don't consider memories past the age of 12 to be childhood-related. I define those as teen years.

My fondest memories of gaming as a kid were playing the two Lunar games on Sega CD. I'd play w/ my sisters every day after school and we followed them like it was a TV series or something.

The first console I recieved for my 4th birthday was a Sega Master System, and that started the ball rolling for me.

Games that I remember fondly from that time would have to be :

*Sonic the Hedgehog, 2 and Chaos

*Streets of Rage

*Chuck Rock II : Son of Chuck

*Batman Returns

*Rastan

*Bram Stokers Dracula

*Bart Vs. The space mutants

*The Jungle Book

*Desert Speedtrap

I am now aware that there are a couple of pieces of trash on that list, but that's all I had access to as a child ;)

I had played a few games before like Galaga and Pacman but I really got into games when I got a Genesis and SNES with Sonic 2 and Super Mario World. I played those games to death. Super Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, and Goldeneye were a few more I played for countless hours. In my teens I spent much of my game time with JRPGs, Mega Man, and Resident Evil.

I also liked that game :)

And yes, playing with the Raptor was awesome.

I especially liked eating those little dinosaurs :P

Unfortunatelly you couldn't actually eat people and other big dinosaurs (except hold people in mouth).

A T-Rex head popping up and eating you when you played as Dr. Grant was also funny :P

haha totally! I specifically remember raising hell with the raptor in some facility/complex stage and tearing things up until the barrage of bullets and rockets wasted me :p.

I recently picked up Rampage Edition because I always wanted that game as a kid, but never got around to buying it or playing it. It's just as awesome as the first one imo

Oh god, there are SO MANY classic games from my childhood I played constantly, I don't know where to begin and where to end.

I guess I'll just list the games I played the most as a child.

Streets of Rage and Golden Axe for the Genesis, as well as Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2.

Banjo-Kazooie, Mario Kart 64, and a game called Rush 2 for the Nintendo 64. I LOVED Rush 2 as a kid. It really is an underrated 64 classic in my mind.

Definitely the Pokemon games up to Crystal. I was obsessed with these games, hell, I'm playing my Gold version right now. I just found it 3 days ago and it didn't have a save file, so this is the first time I've played this game in 9 years.

My cousin's father was wealthy so he always had all the cutting edge technology first and I remember playing mortal kombat on the original model 1 sega genesis all night long during sleep overs.

Another fond memory from my childhood was when my parent hid a brand new Sega Game Gear bundled with Sonic 2 in the kitchen pantry for me to find.

Also my parents bought my sister and me the sega genesis model 2 sonic 2 bundle.

Some of my favorite games from when I was a kid were...

Punch Out!!

I used to play this game all the time. I remember my cousin and I got to Mike Tyson, and it was so intense. We would cheer each other on, saying, "I believe in you, I believe in you"! Lol, so funny. It was quite satisfying when we finally knocked Tyson out.

Super C

Great game. I used to play this game with my friends all the time, it has some of the best local co-op ever.

Super Mario Kart

My best friend growing up and I used to play this game every single day after school. Whether it be racing or battle mode, those were some great times.

Cool Boarders 2

I just realized every game I'm listing has to do with some experiences with other people. That's the best part about gaming to me. I remember my friends and I played this game all the time to try and get the highest score on the half pipe and big air. We were blown away by the graphics of 1080 snowboarding when it came out, but we never played it that much compared to Cool Boarders.

Goldeneye 007

So many hours went into this game's multiplayer. My friends and I used to play this game non-stop. I seriously think it is one of my most played games of all time.
