It sucks to spend all your hard earned money on a game you wished never even existed.

I made the mistake of purchasing Driveclub earlier this year (and ignoring the reviews as well). That was $50 horribly spent.

What are some games that you regret buying?

Since I don't fall for the stupid hype for games any more, I regret nothing I purchase. The only time I buy games on day one, they're games I know I'll enjoy and want in my collection. Otherwise I wait for sales or buy used.

Assassin's Creed 3 was like a wake up call for me. I hated that game so much and I've been much more careful (in regards to buying games) ever since. I love French Revolution stuff so AC: Unity sounds awesome (on paper), and I've been thinking about giving this one a chance, despite all the negative reviews... Any advice? As someone who's super interested in the time period, should I play AC: Unity?

I really like all of the games in here besides Dragon Age: Inquisition and I never bought that because I don't like the first two Dragon Age games.

I don't really regret any games purchases. I usually know what I'm getting into. The Evil Within should have won GOTY 2014, it's brilliant.

If I had to say, it'd probably be Helldivers. Far too co-op based for my liking but I've still enjoyed my time with it and £15.99 is hardly something to regret for the rest of my life.

I don't recall the last time that I ever regretted a game purchase. I mostly know what I'm getting into whenever I purchase a game.

Agreed, I kinda find it hard to buy a game nowadays and "NOT" know what I'm getting. Between developer interviews, gameplay trailers and preview hands on gameplay, there's more then enough information out there to help you make better decisions before you purchase.

I have more regrets NOT buying certain games than ones I did. Especially online games, because the servers are no longer active or the community of players are too skilled for new players.

I still want to play Warhawk for the PS3 but that game is so old I'm afraid nobody plays anymore or the servers are gone. And I have plenty more regrets like that.

lol....I know it was hard man, but I grinded it out because I haven't played a "REAL" horror game in a long time that had me on the edge of my seat!! Dead Space came real close but the Evil Within is a true return to survival horror.

Regretted? Hmm, some games I can call disappointing. But fully regret might be an entirely different situation.

Bought Inquisition, Little Big Planet 3, and subbed Elder Scrolls Online on a whim. All three underwhelming; however had moments of gaming entertainment.

Inquisition had some interesting story twists (as cliche as it is)/ Little Big Planet 3 is finally workable so I'm getting my moneys worth now/ and ESO. . . Lame, however friends made it a funny experience.

Regret is more serious a statement than I'd give the games I've bought in recent memory.

& for the Evil Within comments. Loved that game!!! Ripa ripa!!

Been gaming for three decades and I could fill a garbage truck with games that I regretted buying. But that's part of the hobby I guess, for every 10 crap games you buy, you get maybe one or two gems that make it all worth while.

I kinda regret buying Watchdogs and Asscreed: Blackflag, gonna beat 'em some day though. COD:AW is also something I should have bought a lot cheaper.

Any game I buy that doesn't hold my interest long enough to get my monies worth out of it. Recently:

Far Cry 4 - just lost interest after a few hours for some reason

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - too damn obtuse

Van Helsing II - boring

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (why the hell did I buy this? I haven't enjoyed CoD for ages lol)

Shadow of Mordor (would have been ok if I got it cheaper)

Batman: Arkham Knight (PC) - obvious reasons

Pillars of Eternity - couldn't get into it, didn't like the combat and too impatient for all the reading

same. and it's not necessarily through a lack of research, it's more a lack of tolerance and patience with games. in the last several months off the top of my head games i regret buying are the evil within (cumbersome mechanics, poor performance and predictable trope riddled setting / story), dragon age inquisition (tons of little annoyances that in isolation are tolerable but in combination sap all the fun out of the game) and assassin's creed unity (even with the bugs patched it was rubbish)

Destiny. It's not terrible but it's the kind of game I'll never play and I should have known that.

X-Rebirth. I had no idea the latest game in a much beloved series would be so awful, even after all the patches.

Evil Within is also pretty bad.

So true. I used to fall for almost all the bullshit hype and bought a ton of crappy games. That's why I don't buy nearly as many games as I used to.

So many shit games these days, and only a very few good ones.

GTA V (PS3 Version) -Runs like shit... there's no point in getting it over current gen or PC. $30 wasted.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune -Ugh... I did not like. The shooting mechanics, bullet-sponges, A.I. ruined it for me. Some of the levels are also quite aggravating. That's $20 gone.

@yukushi: Well, I am a huge fan of racing games, so I guess that's why.

The graphics are gorgeous and it has decent gameplay, but the atmosphere fell flat pretty quickly. I did like tons of research before I purchased it cause I was desperate for a racing game, but I ended up hating it without any concrete reason. Maybe I sucked at the game, I don't know.

edit: i forgot about the last 3 cods....blops2, ghost and aw. single player was cool. i actually really liked ghosts sp....but mp was garbage

Battlefield 3 for the Xbox 360

I was amazed by the trailers, and then the game turned out to suck after realizing that the button layout sucked and that I needed to buy some maldito (im a white hispanic) DLC to play some bloody game modes

Fable 3

Got it twice for free

Was bored by it twice

Street Fighter II HF for the 360

I love street fighter, but this version of SF2 blows

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Not only do I wish I could get my money back, but even more I wish I had never even heard of it. Damn you marketing, getting me hyped for the most disappointing failure to make a good game. Tell you right now, it's personal. Those devs can suck it. It's not even about the money.

That's the only thing I've ever regretted buying.
