So I'm not able to buy M games yet by myself (Next year I'll finally be able to) and I'm curious if I have an edge card, that says my age and other information, can I get an older friend of mine to get it for me (using my edge card)? And will gamestop try to inform my guardians that I bought an M rated game with my card? Thanks in advance.

Basically have your friend go to a different Gamestop location than the one you regularly go to...so the clerk doesn't recognize (more importantly NOT recognize your friend)

Have your friend pay cash (so no name on a check or credit card)

Finally if your friend looks young then you might be screwed because they might ID him and then see that the names don't match

PS I don't think you get a discount when you buy games...but if you have credit then I understand

Another thing is that I'm not sure if the card keeps your age on it?? If it does, then I don't see a way around it.

All you need is to purchase the game with a consenting adult to show proof of age.

Your edge card is tied to your phone # and your address, so if the employee is suspicious (which they should be), they can call your home and notify your parents of your purchase before making the sale.

You really shouldn't try, because if your parents see the game and make you return it, you will lose more than half your money.

The Edge Card gets you a years subscription to Game Informer, it saves you 10% on used games and used accessories. It also gets you 10% more trade in credit.

I also don't think it would matter if your friend uses your Edge Card. But I still have to reccomend that you ask your parents permission first and if they approve they can easily go with you to get the game you want.

The Edge card is a ripoff, and the only reason that they keep talking about it is because how many they sell determines how long they will work there.

10% is not a lot, and that is ONLY on games. It only works on games. Does not work on systems, movies, accessories, guides, or anything else that is sold in the store.

I made the mistake of trading in some games to Gamestop back in the day, and it is a decision I have regretted my entire life.

Well I guess they don't do the 10% off on used accessories anymore, but I was pretty sure they used to. Anyways, heres teh info form gamestop.com:

If you subscribed to Game Informer magazine in one of our stores, you likely received an Edge Membership as a bonus. This gives you 10% off all used games and strategy guides and a 10% bonus trade credit when trading used games in stores. If there is a yellow membership sticker on the back of your Edge card and the date has not expired, you are an Edge member. If your card is missing this sticker or it is expired, head down to your local GameStop and subscribe to Game Informer magazine.

If you traded used games at a GameStop store, your remaining balance may have been stored on an Edge Card. You can check the value stored on your Edge Card by entering the account number and PIN on the balance inquiry page. The account number and scratch-off PIN are printed directly on the Edge card and are not found on the yellow sticker.

I haven't found the card to be rip off at all. If you buy alot of used game, its a really great deal actually. And, if you're going to buy used games anyways, you may as well get the best deal. Trading games in, on the other hand, do what you will, but I agree that its often not worht (sometime it can be). But its up to you and how it feels to you, I do it on rare occasion, but preffer to keep the games I like anyways.

It doesn't matter if you have an Edge card they should still card you when buying a M rated game. @ChikaPyo You pay once then again in a year if you want to renew it.

It's not if you buy used games. And 10% is better than nothing to me anyways.
