Poll Gaming in a zombie apocalypse. (12 votes)

It can be done. 83%
It can't be done. 17%

Can it be done?

I thought a theory, no power, right?

Thats why, without power you at least try to amass MOUNTAINS of batteries for all different systems.

Make sure you have a plethora of games for older portable game systems, like the Gameboy, Atari Lynx, Sega GameGear, and pretty much buy every battery-powered portable console you can think of, this is assuming you've done all this BEFORE the apocalypse has begun.

If you plan on building/going to a fortress with other survivors, whether they be friends, family, or strangers, best to buy link cables and such beforehand, but if not, it's find.

When I say mountains, I'd say enough to sustain every single portable console you have for at least 10-20 years.

This will cost a lot, but will pay off in the end.

A more expensive way will have you buying things like PSP batteries, and an even more expensive way, if you're tech-savvy and have tools, is replacing batteries in things like the Nintendo Switch, PS Vita, etc.

An even more expensive way, if you wanna enjoy all your PC games, get a massive collection of PC batteries.

One place I feel would be an ideal place to live if you live in a zombie apocalypse, is the home of the Angry Video Game Nerd, but that wouldn't be an option unless A. You know him, or B. He's one of the dead.

I know this is probably one of the stranger posts made, but its just advice I thought of that could be handy if something like this ever happens, which it won't.

Would probably be best if you had a sealed-off basement as well, a place where you could play without alerting the zombies to your presence.

Yes, during a Zombie apocalypse my priority will be collecting enough batteries to play video games, totally.

@phbz: I mean, if you don't wanna go completely and totally insane from boredom, as a person with ADHD cooped up in a house all day with absolutely nothing to do I would actually, no bs 100% go insane, thats just how I am.

I get back after the stress of nearly dying so I could find a 2-day old loaf of bread from my also dead neighbors, and then nearly dying 3 more times looking for possible survivors and another time looking for guns, the latter being fruitless, yeah... I wanna boot up some Super Mario Land for damn sure, or Fire Emblem or something. Sure I'm doing stuff to build up defenses and whatnot through-out the house, but what else am I going to do besides that?

I'm a bit of a recluse anyway, so I'd be just fine sitting by myself and gaming.

Generators are primary source of power in many regions. Also wind and solar power. So, power cuts would only affect you in big cities..

Prepare by setting up solar power unit that gives enough power to charge up your Switch and other portables. And your laptop.

It can be done for sure. But it will cost you a lot. Perhaps it'll cost you your life. Are you ready to sacrifice human life (not yours but someone else) for gaming?

You could scavenge solar panels from houses and have power for about 20 years. After that you better be able to settle by a river and rig a small dynamo and turbine, or better yet live in a hydro plant up a mountain.

I'd be "gaming" outside by smashing zombie heads. I mean, really, if there was ever a time for all those shooters, zombie games, horror games, and so forth to pay off, it's during an actual zombie apocalypse.

By the way, you ever notice how in whatever universe a zombie movie/game takes place in, the characters have never heard of a zombie? That shit wouldn't fly here, man, I tell you what. I'd be shocked, don't get me wrong, when seeing a zombie for the first time but I think I'd be like "Wait, I got this guys hold on" and handle it OK. Nobody would be asking "what's going on!?!?!" in other words, people would just be like "Holy shit it's a zombie takeover, never thought I'd see that happen"

Unless they were the fast, running kind of zombies then I might be screwed.

We'll all need to reply all the games about zombies to increase the chances of survival. It's not simply yes/no, it's life or death

You're going to need electricity anyways, to do all sorts of stuff. (Hair dryer, electrical tooth brush, calling mom.) So I imagine if you survive a zombie apocalypse you are likely settled near a nuclear power-plant. Just pick a socket and plug it all in.

I'll retreat back to the land my family owned in the countryside. It has good fencing, we grow fruit trees and stuff and a nearby stream. Has generators (no solar though...hmmm).

Sure, gaming will definitely be a priority in a hypothetical zombie apocalypse

In other news haven´t you seen Walking Dead or any zombie movie out there?

@steelworm: I mean AFTER the zombie apocalypse, if they happen to get into my home, of course I'm gonna leave that shit behind, but it's kinda a last resort kinda thing.

@KungfuKitten: In a zombie apocalypse, personal hygiene and communication with the outside world become non-existant.

It's so funny that people will come up with this idea xD Gaming while there is an apocalypse is a luxury. But well I think maybe can use rechargeable battery's and you can power it with solar or maybe other natural methods? I don't know xD

We can actually play in the apocalypse, all these years of experience will pay out as we take on hoards of zombies with just a baseball bat ;) . We will be experiencing the zombie games we played, more interactively than VR !!

Okay guys. You're talking about scavenging solar panels and etc. But what about other stuff? Solar panels are not the only thing that you need to have for gaming. Where will the rest come from? I mean food and water. How are you going to defend yourself from those who will try to stole you solar panels? I doubt that the batteries for gameboy is the only thing that you need to care of.

exactly! forget vr, there'd be an army of gamers who've unwittingly been in training for years ready to go deal with any zombie invasion.

of course as a more, ahem, mature gamer i'd insist on dealing with the slower, plodding types, letting the younger gamers deal with those crazy, unpredictable sprinters or the ones who stagger round lobbing headcrabs at you from half life 2

@Macutchi: yeah I would totally be a plotter in zombie apocolypse. Throw the young 'uns at the zombies because they're all ready to go and dumb, I'm gonna chill in back and keep things sane.

In the apocalypse, the alpha males go off and die; the beta males will rule and continue the species :D Nah jk we all die.

fun fact: the government actually knows a zombie apocalypse is coming, and all zombie-killing games are secretly financed by them.

the more you know...

sorry for the bump, but like, this part just irked me.

I can't imagine a zombie apocalypse being a "Gamer's Paradise".

Try the most intense survival-horror game of your entire life, even worse then the dark web ones.

I would be constantly nervous and would go absolutely fucking insane since like, living is extremely important to me.

Unless you enjoy sky-diving and thrill-seeking. (I don't personally, its cool in video games but irl even fighting kinda freaks me out lol).
