i found this old VHS tape of our family when we use to have friday night family night outs, and on the tape was a part with me and my cousins playing in the arcade at good ol' Shakey's Pizza. and man i gotta tell you guys....playing against people online you don't know is nothing compared to playing against people in real life that you don't know! this tape was about damn around 14 years old, and i remember how fun it use to be playing a game in the arcades and then having random people join you and play with you and you all yell and scream and cheer for eachother....what a great way to make actual friends back in the day before online gaming become popular. an not to mention a lot of the old arcade games were a lot better and funner than today's arcades... *sigh* anyone else have any fond memories of playing in the arcades with random people and making friends (or even enemies lol)?

Arcades are still very active in where I live, so it may be a different experience for me. I just treat strangers the same way I treat others online: say hi, talk about some strategies in the game we're gonna play, then get my butt kicked :P

There's no replacing face to face competition. I've made friends at the arcades back in the day, in the same way I have going to the park and playing a sport such as basketball. Some good, some rivals, but all good hearted for the most part. This is why I separate N64 from a lot of consoles.
