I definitley recommend you look into Jak 2 and 3. I really enjoyed the quirky badass characters. The variety of gameplay keeps you on your toes with a mix of platform, vehicles, and action elements. If your not afraid of a series that doesn't take itself that serious and is quite comical go ahead and check it out. Also Jak and daxter 1 is quite good but it is strictly platformer with a little vehicle action on the side.
Green = highly recommend Orange= more heavily rpg but with action controls.
If I could only suggest one game from that list I would go with Colosseum!! It is so damn fun!! Its got some rough spots, like poor save feature and the game ends after so many days, but the combat is freaking awesome. You can equip different armors and weapons and earn and use different skills, you have to play mini-games to imrpove your guys stats. It might be hard to get into but once you do its freaking fun as hell. I love going back to that game
Try Okami. It's even better than Zelda in my opinion. It's a cool game not just because of the graphics (and the sound and music, which are also actually really good) but the gameplay is pretty darn sweet as well because of how you interact with the environment. It went greatest hits and so you can pick it up now for 20 bucks on amazon.com or gamestop. Gamestop has been consistently selling it for only 20 bucks for a while now. It's a classic and a must-have for the ps2 in my opinion. It took me 60 hours to beat and normally I would have given up around the 30 hour mark but it was just so good. It's the only long game I've really ever played through to the end, and that's saying a lot.:)
okami is more of a zelda style rpg and imo is second chair to dark cloud 2 in quality but both im afraid arent important here as action/adventure and rpg are two different genres.
id like to add as suggestions: devil kings and psychonauts
