I imagine we all have one or two, right? I usually try to finish every game I start, but every once in awhile I lose the chance to actually get all the way through something. In this case, Okami on the Wii. It was a great game, but I ended up moving not long after starting the game and had to put it away. Not sure I'm interested enough to get another copy at this point, but I'm curious now.

What are some games that you enjoyed but could never finish? Think you'd go back and play them again?

In recent memories, Alien Isolation. I can't remember why i stopped, especially considering i loved it, i think it's because a game i was waiting for was releasing in the near future.

I don't think that I have ever beaten a Final Fantasy game, except the first one ( I don't remember). I get really close to the end, but get bored and move on to another game. I'm replaying IX and I'm on a mission to beat it.

@zassimick: Is it hard for you to go back to a game if you've stopped playing it for awhile? I remember taking month long, even year long breaks from games when I was younger. Now, it's a lot harder for me to jump back in if I've stopped playing a game for too long.

There are a lot of games that would fit this category including Breath of Fire 3 and 5, Grandia 1, Suikoden 3 or Wild Arms 4, 5 and XF

@Cheddarchet: Absolutely. When I go back to certain games I have to restart them, otherwise I'm lost. Others it may not matter.

All depends if I remember it all or not. :P

There are many games but I'd like to mention GTA IV here. People say it is a classic game to be played properly, but all my regrets that I never finished it. :/

Witcher 3 dlc, loved the game and had got the season pass, played a bit of the first one and was enjoying then got preoccupied with other stuff then other games and never went back to it. Still keep reminding and telling myself i need to go back especially as i hear blood and wine is brilliant.

@lumanic: Argh! You just reminded me of another one, The Witcher 2. I loved the game, but lost all my save data and decided to take a break from playing. I'd love to go back to it, but I hate the thought of replaying the early portions of the game again. Seems like a waste not to though, I've heard number 3 is brilliant.

I rarely never finish games, but I couldn't finish God of War 3 due to an issue with the disc or my save file or something that caused the final fight to crash every time. It was a fine game until that point, but I never bothered trying to go around the issue and actually finish the game. It remains the only God of War game, aside from Ascension which I never played, that I haven't finished.

I guess there's also Super Mario Galaxy. And I never even started Super Mario Galaxy 2. But I mostly watched my sister play through those games. It was a while back and I really hated platformers. I still kinda do.

Same here, I try to get back into it but I just can't. I was loving the game so much, I was even going to get the DLC, but just as you said, I was waiting for something else that came out and just lost interest.

A lot of games I just didn't like after an hour of play.

Only game that comes to mind that I thought was 'good' is Vanquish, I think very highly of the game but my save-data got corrupt near the end of Hard-mode. So I stopped playing it and moved onto a game that just released that I was hyped as hell for. I always planned to go back, finish it, and challenge myself with the Platinum. But now I don't even have the game anymore so don't think it'll happen.

I've noticed many mention Alien Isolation, I got that on Steam, never finished it. However it's because a lot of it is Hide n' Seek. And like Outlast it's just not for me. I like Survival Horror. Hiding games? is a whole other thing imo.

I tend to finish the games I find 'good' if not I tend give them away or delete the install. I bought a lot of retro games recently. But haven't started many of them yet, one of which is Akumajo Dracula X on P.C. it's in bad condition but plays just fine, can't wait to have more time with it :)

i think we all know you stopped playing because it got a bit too tense for you ;)

in all seriousness it's interesting you like survival horror but not when your only hope of survival is to hide. combat is so one sided in ai you can barely make a dent in either set of enemy until later on in the game and even then ammo is so scarce that the tension remains high. sneaking and hiding are your weapons. as a fan of stealth games i loved that. and there was a period in the game mid way through in apollo core with the boiler suit robot joes and the alien nest that was as tense and terrifying an experience as i've played in a survival horror game. shame you couldn't get into it.

back on topic i'd say the most recent one would be horizon. got right near the end then bought wildlands, titanfall 2 and gravity rush 2 and made the mistake of dipping into them before i finished the game. haven't been back since :(

@Macutchi: I find stealth games very difficult to get into to be honest. Even Metal Gear Solid I struggle to play longer than an hour. . . The concept never clicked with me as being interesting. And all honesty I don't find Aliens all that scary :T But gave it a go to chat with a friend about it, as he in turn tried Biohazard/ Resident Evil Remastered.

I feel it was made for Alien fans first, and also those that like Outlast but wanted something with a higher budget and open variety.

It's a great game in what it is. And hope fans get another one. But to me it's a title I can only hope brings more developers to consider Survival Horror games that are not Hide n' Seek games.

Skyrim because I upgraded to PS4 and didn't want to buy it again. Haven't fired up my PS3 since I upgraded even tho I told myself I'd never stop playing Skyrim. Also Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 3, Infamous: Second Son, and God Eater: Ressurection for my PS Vita smh

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night because I've played too many Metroidvania games that are just newer and better and even though this is usually placed in Gaming sites' lists of greatest games of all time, I can't get past the first actual boss. I just don't care.

Also, Divinity: Original Sin. I got it on sale from Steam for like $27, but I just can't get into CRPGs. I love RPGs. I've played lots and lots of them. I just don't have the patience anymore for turn-based combat, except maybe on my iPad. Don't really care about the world and the Source Hunters storyline either.

Both very good games, but with Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3 to replay over and over, Bloodborne to replay over and over, Rocket League, Overwatch, and DOOM. I just can't bring myself to play these boring games.

FarCry, it was a good game with great graphics (back in the day), but I was just too immersed in that creepy UAC facilty killing zombies and demons, I wasn't interested in moving to a tropical island.

ES 4: Oblivion.

Did everything BUT finish that game lmao. Barely got through the story at all. The rest of the game just felt so much more fun. Anyone else have this experience?

Yep, never finished that one either. Spent nearly a hundred hours playing it, working my way through the Colosseum, and doing... maybe 3 mainline quests? Totally worth it though.

@icedgunt: Oh I love that game! Beat the story 3 times. Finished most of the areas and pretty much all of the side quests and got in around 400 hours total with that one. So many memories. Love the arena. Stupid of Skyrim not to have it, but then that game was also less of an RPG and Bethesda's quests have become more mundane and repetitive now.

@Cheddarchet: Honestly the side quests were so good though... The dark brotherhood, that one super paranoid guy. And my favourite thing was probably that town in the middle of nowhere where you get attacked if you sleep at the inn. Really lovecraft-y.

@poe13: Haha yeah I had hundreds of hours and barely even did the main q line at all. I just hated the oblivion gate world vs the standard overworld.

@icedgunt: Yeah them gates got boring after the first one. Also, further on they get kinda fucking hard. They throw tons of those walking crocodile monsters and they have huge health on normal difficulty. Wasn't fun getting slammed by them over and over so I would lower it down to easy mode lol. Harder difficulty should not mean damage sponging the enemies but whatever.

When I don't finish a game, it is because I didn't like it and so get rid of it.

I wish it were just one or two...probably are at least 10. The ones few that come to my mind are Dragon Age Inquisition and Assassins Creed Black Flag. But I also still haven't started the witcher DLCs because I wanted to complete the base game for a second time and did not finish that either.

I've never beaten Okami either. Never played the Wii Version though, played it on PS2. I recenctly purchashed the HD version on PSN though so I will be starting that up one of these days.
