n64 had 007
snes has everything else. classic RPGs like Final Fantasy, fighting games like MK or KI, tactical Ogre Battle, side scrollers like Plok (does anyone else remember Plok?)
For SNES definately try out Chrono Trigger. I was engrossed by its gameplay, playing literally 8-12 hours a day just 3 weeks ago. The only thing I didn't like about it was the characters themselves didn't pull me in so much but I enjoyed the way the story worked.
Obviously get Super Mario RPG if you haven't already played it, Earthworm Jim 1/2, Cool Spot (Love this game) and a ton of others. It's truely shocking how many killer games were on that one system.
and secret of manabucketpirate
Hate Secret of Mana. It's not fun having insanely stupid AI if you don't have other people playing and wasting your supplies reviving them even if you can configure thier attack configuration.

There's a bunch of games like that. On the N64 specifically there were Chopper Attack and Nuclear Strike.
Anyway, people have already covered the SNES I think so I'll just list some good N64 titles:
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (if you can only pick one game from these lists and haven't played OOT yet, get this)
LoZ: Majora's Mask
Super Mario 64
Donkey Kong 64
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Starfox 64
Paper Mario
Ogre Battle 64
Goldeneye 64
Super Smash Bros. 64 (only if you have friends who you think would like to play N64 games)
Mario Kart 64 (See above)
Pilotwings 64
Turok
Perfect Dark
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Resident Evil 2
Pokemon Snap
Those were just the ones that I could think of off the top of my head. Generally speaking anything published by Nintendo or Rare is worth buying on the N64.

They made Pilotwings 64? How did I miss that, I love the one for SNES.
 At Pokemon Snap. That game was so pointless, but was addictive at the same time.

How did you miss Pilotwings 64? It was one of the two launch titles for the N64 (and IIRC, those two games were the only ones worth playing for the first 4-6 months after release). I remember that the local blockbuster's N64 section had two shelves devoted to the N64: one was SM64 and the other was PW64. Oh, and they had that horrible promotional video for the N64.
