So what with the hotly debated news that the next Xbox could possibly require a constantly online connection, which would enable them to exclude all used games sales from their system. (as reported on heavily by Edge http://www.edge-online.com/features/why-microsoft-is-killing-the-second-hand-game-market/)

This could spell the end of Brick and Mortar Game's stores that grace our high street. But I'm not ready to say goodbye to the physical stores, I know it's going to have a large effect upon the industry business wise, but from a personal view it would be a sad day indeed when I no longer see that bright purple GAME sign on the high street. Sad as it may be some of my happiest memories have taken place in games stores, such as buying my first xbox or qeueing for hours before mid-night and the launch of Halo 3 surrounded by fellow games all sharing in the excitement.

If these stores disapear I'll miss moments like these, am I just being nostalgic and living in the past.

Will you lament the loss of the Game store? Or are you avidly ushering in the age of the digital download?

I'm not sure if places like GameStop will go away since they could still sell new copies of games just like any other store. Since they have started accepting iphones, ipads, and ipods I assume they are trying to cushion themselves for the future if the game industry does go in that direction. The PS3, WiiU, and 360 will still be relevant for another year or two and there would still be a market for their used games. It will be easier to speculate once we see what the new consoles have to offer this summer.

Same.  If I do get a physical copy, I usually order from amazon or newegg

I would say Sony and Microsoft are ready for a Steam-like service. Nintendo is NOT ready for DD. There online system is wacky and doesnt sem secured. I FEEL like my xbox live and Steam accounts will work and function 5-10 years from now. I don't get that feeling from Nintendo, so I'll continue to purchase only physical from them.

Digital only won't happen. Lack of broadband internet across the world, and services that still have very strict data restrictions mean the majority of people won't be able to use a digital only system. Any system that does that will fail.. like the PSP Go.
