Not even debatable that it's GTA V. Saints Row 4 just looks stupid and unfunny. Series shouldn't be compared to the likes of GTA.
GTAV of course.
Saints row is too over the top. I liked what Saints row 1 and 2 did but after that it seems like its going downhill.
Saints Row started as a decent 'inspired' alternative to the GTA series. With Saints Row The Third, and moreso with SR IV, the point seems to be about pushing boundaries and providing a lot of 'things', whereas GTA has kept order with its sandbox by tying everything into more coherent storyline elements.
Edit: Â Of the 2, I'll be buying GTA V at launch, as I already have it pre-ordered. Â Saints Row IV will wait until I see something more appealing than I've seen so far.
Would not even place them in the same genre. Of the two games I hope it will be GTA 5, but given that I absolutely loathed GTA 4 and really liked SR3 then it is up for who produces the better overall game.
Grand Theft Auto V regardless if you live in Australia, but seriously, Grand Theft Auto V be leaps and bounds better than Saints Row 4.

Because the game with jokes like "BAWSAQ" is so hilarious. I think both franchises are guilty of really lame attempts at humor.
I won't be getting either one at full-price but I'll probably get them both once they drop to like $15 each

The difference being that GTA isn't reliant on humor whereby contrast SR uses said humor to obfuscate the uneven game play mechanics.

Will you defend Rockstar/GTA from literally any complaint that people have? It's getting weird, you're like a Justin Bieber fan except Rockstar is your BieberI enjoyed the first SR despite it being incredibly derivative but the second game was absolute shit from a technical and mechanical standpoint.
SR3 was technically sound and plenty of fun but SR4 just looks...bizarre.
Personally I think the SR franchise has run its course but August isn't a cluttered month for releases so if the gameplay holds up I may nab it.
Regardless, GTAV will curbstomp it and probably most other sandbox titles as well.

Considering your infantile little hate-boner for Rockstar in general I'm relatively unmoved by your accusation.
You've been trolling this game hard so why don't you do everyone a favor and focus on games that you actually enjoy.
Also, my point was salient and entirely relevant so calm yourself.
I don't get why the Saints Row franchise went from being a simple San Andreas clone to becoming a cartoony chaotic mess. Why the sudden change? SR3 was fun, but it was just too crazy to take seriously. It was a complete departure from the "thug life" storyline of the previous games.

The humour in the GTA games has always been pretty clever, mature and well written. The Saints Row games are basically just puerile, infantile and immature.GTA V will take a massive dump all over Saints Row 3,1.(the latest gta gameplay simply proves it)
It's not even a comparison at this point.
what do you guys think?ice_rangerI think its stupid to compare the 2 since they are not really going down the same road. But i think it has been clear for awhile that GTA has "beat" Saints Row, especially when the guys making Saints Row has thrown in the towel and gone completly away from making a game similar to GTA.in story and seriousness.
Saint's Row 4, can't stand Rockstar's nonsense. No desire nor wish to play as male either, so Saint's Row 4 for me, GTA5 doesn't allow for the choice - as is usual for Rockstar due to their males only obsession with their characters who are always boring heterosexual, cis-gender males.Smokescreened84Why would/should they allow a choice? they are not trying to please som PC feminist BS agenda Also the way GTA is , it would be hard to fit a female character into that.

Well its your loss.
But considering that if you take a game like Mass Effect where you had the option that only 18% chose a female Sheppard, its pretty clear that the majority of gamers prefer a male hero.
Also i cant see how a female protagonist in GTA would be possible, its a game about sex, drugs, crime and violence, it would be very hard to make a female character fit into that.

I have to admit that I'm having a bit of a problem making a logical connection between male GTA characters and a lack of imagination on the Part of Rockstar's writing crew. It's as if saying that unless the protagonists are mexican bisexual transgender pre-op midgets, then the writers simply have no imagination.
That's not so say that I'd have anything against a female, or multiple female leads in a GTA game, but the simple fact of not having gone in that direction does not imply a lack of imagination on the part of the writers.
If you're going to say somehing along that lines, you might as well lump in every game in history which does not have a female lead, or at least the choice to play as a female lead.

GTAV. No question.
Saints Row 4 looks stupid. It appears to be trying way too hard to be obsurd and funny when instead it just comes off as obnoxious.Â

BAWSAQ is that similar juvenile humor, sure, but it isn't something that everyone notices upon watching the trailer. It's just kind of there, for a split second, and when you see it as a reference to real world stock script it has a tiny bit of wit.
Saints Row 4 is just over bearing and basically yells at you with all the wacky stuff it has.Â
Nudity! Aliens! DUB STEP GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

GTA V all the way. Even Mad Max looks more appealing than SR 4. crap. SR 2 was better than GTA IV crap and pretty cool with a balance between serious and goofy, but went downhill after that when they started going all goofy in SR 3.I'll check out SR4 when it's free on PSN.

Even with the new Tomb Raider and The Last Of Us, they're have been articles about the violent deaths of female NPC's and the near rape of Ellie and Lara Croft. Feminist gamers ware way too touchy and self entitled to please.
No matter how you incorporate a female protagonist in an adult themed video game that is not character customization, it's inevitable to incur some form of negative feedback from feminist gamers.
Plus why does every dev need to cater to every specific gamer? Rockstar knows it's audience and there's nothing wrong with sticking with a formula that works.
My only concern is that GTA V's story won't impress as much as GTA IV's. Judging by the trailers, it doesn't appear as serious, so the character development will probably not be anywhere along the lines of something like GTA IV. That said, it's still great that it's going down the route of being more like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, with lots of features, only way more polished this time around. I still feel like Watch Dogs and MGS5 will be a greater breath of fresh air because the directions that they're taking are less familiar (even Star Citizen's concept sounds more interesting/unique), whereas we've been getting the same GTA experience since GTA III, even if the formula has been improved upon a lot since then.
i think the 3 character mechanic can be labeled "revolutionary" when it comes to a game like this, its been done before, but never like this......Â
Â
Â
i dont think watch dogs will be as good as gta 5
Bosskiller500
Am I denying that GTA V will be a huge blockbuster, AAA title? Not at all. I'm sure it'll do very well in terms of both quality and quantity.
Â
It's not so much about whether or not Watch Dogs is nearly perfect in every way--it's the fact that it has more unique gameplay to offer us. And that alone, at least for me, is enough for me to be more interested in it than in GTA V. I still will likely be coming back to the GTA franchise more often than with most franchises, which is usually a rarity for me, considering how many other unique IPs I'd like to try out. I don't have enough time, patience, and/or money to continue to invest in the bulk of long-running franchises that I've come across in the past.
Â
As another open world title, MGS5 will especially be interesting for being largely a stealth game. And one that has both light and shadow stealth, as well as stealth which is based on field-of-sight/distance (as was the case in previous MGS games). AC has never been about all the different forms of stealth layered together (with no light and shadow gameplay to be found), so this will be a true stealth experience (unlike any other that has come before it, including other open world games that include a little bit of stealth, such as Far Cry and Crysis, just to name a few).
I haven't even played the Saints Row games yet, though I've been meaning too. I know more about GTA V, and that looks promising so I'll go with that.
