When I first heard that Guitar Hero would be made available on the DS I cringed. How the hell would this work? I was expecting something along the lines of Jam Secessions that would completely throw away the things that made Guitar Hero cool in the first place. But they've now released a shot of the peripheral that will be included with GH World Tour, and I have to admit it doesn't look too bad.

Looks like it'll take a bit of getting used to holding, but I can see how it would work pretty easily. Looks like Activision wasn't completely whoring out the license for every dime they could grab and is actually trying to create something of value.

Of course there are a few wacky DS elements to the game, that could be good or just horrible depending on how they get implemented. Apparently pyrotechnics will backfire on occasion and you'll have to blow them out on the microphone (probably a really bad idea), and you'll also have to sign autographs during performances on the touchscreen (could actually be cool). Anyway I'm still not sold on it all, but it's at least going to be worth keeping an eye out on.

Ahaha! That looks weird.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how it turns out.

You wouldn't hold it like an accordian. You'd hold it, kind of like how you'd hold the neck of a guitar. In your left hand, cradling it slightly more. The main difference is you'd hold it down by your chest so that you could keep your eyes on the screen.

Can some one explain to me how you would hold that?

EDIT: Nevermind, left hand alone holding the DS, meh. not sure how stable that will be.dvader654

The video going around about the game shows a strap for your hand attached to the "guitar grip," but who knows if it'll ship with the strap.

I'm excited for the game, 4 frets is the perfect number for me (i play on medium in normal GH).

It has potential, but it also seems kind of awkward for a handheld.Along with that,it doesn't seem like the best fit for a handheld.Part of the greatness of Guitar Hero was getting some friends together, and rocking out on the TV.Guitar Hero DS doesn't seem right.

Huh? I don't own a DS, so I really don't know if the speakers of the system are manly enough to blast out rock(ish) music convincingly enough to really get you into the game. I mean, when I play GH, I want it to be LOUD as hell.

Otherwise, it looks interesting, even for a cash-in.

The speakers on the DS are not that good. The music could be passable if played with headphones though.

And are all the songs supposed to fit into a DS card? Or will it feature midi tunes?

It'll probably feature reworked tracks that uses samples, probably covers of the songs (much like the Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents titles).

Huh. It's a far cry from the console versions obviously, but that's actually kind of a cool idea. I'll move this game from "you've got to be kidding me" to "slightly intriguing".
