Mine is (unsurprisingly) Shenmue. Never have a played a game so beautiful and engrossing, that is demanded every emotion from you. It is nothing short of a masterpiece.
So what is your all time favorite game?

i read the topic title in the board and i immediately said to myself shenmue, i then click it to come and post in here and you list shenmue as yours! it is a masterpiece.
Shenmue had a lot of flaws though. It had a living breathing world unlike any game before it but in reality it was hardly interactive. You could hardly do anything in it. You couldn't use any services outside the pre-set shops unless it was part of the storyline, and people wouldn't talk to you about anything else than about your current quest. All people say the same thing over and over.
In the original Shenmue people compalined about the schedules you had to make. I'm sure AM2 thought people would be happy to spend time in the world they had created until players found out there wasn't anything worthwhile to do besides going to the Arcades.
And these flaws are even worse in Shenmue II. The game is filled with whole streets that are totally useless to the player. They might as well had been painted in the background. And how lame it was that the only job you could take in Hong Kong besides lifting boxes was being a mini-game attendant. And it was also lacking in side-quest and in many other things.
Overall Shenmue was a very flawed game and very far from a masterpice in my opinion.
HMmmm dont know, too many good ones. Ill just give you my top 5, in no particular order:
1. Deus Ex
2. Homeworld
3. Battlezone
4. Dune 2
5. Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe

That doesn't answer the question :P. And chances are, your answer is Battle Mania.
Radiant Silvergun. That doesn't answer the question :P. And chances are, your answer is Battle Mania.

And why did the TC stated "no questions asked" in the title but then asks "why" in the post?
Actually had to give this one some thought, and was actually surprised at what game kept popping into my head.
Sid Meier's Pirates!(2004 remake)
Any time I feel I am bored with games I always go back and play this one. Easy to play and get into, a lot of charm, and it's a lot of fun. Simple sometimes? Sure, but that is one of the things I like about it.

Really? I thought it was pretty good, but no the best game ever. And I think you just convinced the TC to hastily edit his post :P.
My sig says it all.Legendaryscmt
....so nothing?
my fav would have to be FFVII
as for shenmue, i still have this on DC but i think i was stuck at some point where it seemed like all i was doing was working at the docks moving crates, trying to find clues about some gang (which i couldnt actually find any clues about) anyone know what im meant to be doing?

It has the best weapon system of any shooting game period. 7 different weapons with only 3 buttons and each of them serves a purpose. Plus a deep scoring system. There was actually an Arcade shooting game that used 6 buttons for it's 6 weapons and it even so it never came nowhere as close as the way Radiant Silvergun handled them.
So yes, it's the best shooting game yet made.

I'd say the best shooting game made would be that mini-game in No More Heroes. Yea, it's short and simple, but what more could you ask for in a game? Besides, I can't remember crap about that game other than the final boss being Ultraman :P.

... I'm beyond comments. But it is not wonder why you enjoy SFC shooting games despite being terrible.

Eh? I enjoy SNES shooters? Again, a misconception. Need I introduce you to Phalanx and Darius Twin?
You don't need to introduce me any Shooting game. I know them all. And Yeah, just like I said. Terrible, slow and godawful.Eh? I enjoy SNES shooters? Again, a misconception. Need I introduce you to Phalanx and Darius Twin?

And SFC Phalanx? It makes me want to throw up, specially compareed of the excellent X68000 Phalanx.

Not sure what you mean by that, but OK. And personally, the game that makes me throw up is Darius Plus. Why should I be punished for collecting power ups?
Chrono Trigger. That game was amazing! Learning about Lavos, fighting Magus, everything about the game was an amazing experience.
Though I'm torn between Chrono Trigger and God Of War II...

Resident Evil 2 [PS1]. That will never change. I change my mind on 2 through 10, if you ask for my top ten but my number one is always RE2.xmitchconnorxI agree 100%. That game changed my life when I was a kid. I didn't play video games the same way after that. Dino Crisis or FF7 are the runners up.
X-Com: UFO Defense
If I had just one game to play for the rest of time, I think this would be it. Maybe Civilization IV or Master of Orion...
Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magic Obscura
To start out with, it is in my favorite genre. What sets it apart from other rpgs is the extremely rare ability to actually let you do pretty much anything you want to do, and still complete the game. Most rpgs, especially recently, give you a choice between being good and saving innocents, or being evil (which in most instances involves you asking for money or something). Arcanum truly gives you a choice between those, as well as all the grey areas in between.
The setting provides one of the more unique backdrops in western rpgs. Writing is well-done, the orchestral score is fitting and works in all the right spots. It is pretty much my favorite.
A good pick. Lots of freedom and a fun setting.Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magic Obscura
