Similar to how Sony has ps1 games that can be played on the PSP, has Nintendo at all mentioned any plans to install a similar feature and let people play SNES games on their handheld? Be it Super Mario RPG, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy, Donkey Kong Country, or any of those titles.

Was just wondering about any latest news that has transpired here on the primary games discussion forum.

There hasn't been any word on this, but I hope it does happen.

???

I moderately hope I'm not the only one who can make neither heads nor tails of this post and as such has contented with dismissing it as gibberish. Even though my curiosity does make me wonder what the creator of said post was trying to say but refused to really type out his words and present it.

Ah well.

I think he just wants them to concentrate on making new games, not re-releasing old games. As to your post, I have scene no information about upcoming SNES games. Surely its in the works, but it maybe a year or two away. But thats what I want, SNES game on my 3DS. That was probably my favorite gaming system.

Don't buy them then.

Why do you hate it? What's wrong with re-releasing games and giving people who missed them the first time a chance to try out classics?

Because when people buy them, they think it's ok not to come up with new IP. I own a ton Snes game and I won't be buying them again, they sold them on Wii and to a lesser extent on Dsi. I just hate the practice, plus Nintendo remakes everything Ad nausium. I can't believe it was that difficult to understand my original post, but not my problem.

I did understand your original post. I just wanted you to elaborate on why you think it's an issue.

It's all well and good that you still own a ton of SNES games, but not everybody can say the same thing. If you don't want to buy them, then don't. But for people that missed them the first time, or new gamers wanting to try out the classics, there's no harm. This idea that re-releases are plaguing the creative side of the industry is ridiculous.

Its not just that, its reusing the same asset with updated graphics and Nintendo is the king of it. They just keep making the same game over and over again with a new coat of paint. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If something does not change this time around, I will be skipping the Wii U 2 or whatever they are calling it now.

Fair enough. As far as Nintendo goes though, they haven't been that great in releasing new IPs for a long time.

Nintendo is large, and have different divisions working on different projects. Just because they want to release games for their VC service doesn't mean that they don't have other teams working on new stuff.

Earthworm Jim is there already, so more SNES games will likely follow.

Nintendo should really invest in making a new 2D Metroid for the 3DS. It can play like an updated Super Metroid, and 3D environments can really add to the isolation feel of those games.

But I'd take Super Metroid too :P
