No, not really. I kinda wish things would always turn positive for the world of video games. Otherwise, I don’t think the two have any coherent connections. (Meaning politics/social climate, and video games)

I would say that has not affected my gaming addiction, but it has affected the websites where I read about video games. A lot more grumpy political post and a lot less funny memes about video games nowadays.

I don't see myself addicted as I was in 2020. Back then it was buying everything mostly before rising prices affected vudeogames.

No, though I think the combination of COVID lockdown and me not drinking alcohol (something I think I used to address my anxiety) any more has made me quite a bit more non-social (and, frankly, OK with it). As a result, I do play more games.

It does often feel like the joy got sucked out of the world in some respects. Games are more about being impressive and popular than they are about being fun, in many situations.

There's less whimsy in the hobby, and I miss that. I Think it's why I favor indie games more these days, they're just fun, they're not "try-hard".
