Can't say that I've ever felt that way about a new IP before. Happens all the time though with sequels. I remember when Ultimate Alliance 2 came out, was so excited to play it. Got out of class and drove over to Gamestop, picked it up and went home, popped it into my 360 and got the hardest smack across my face that a game has ever given me.
Ditto on Ultimate Alliance 2. I also agree with the sequel thing. When a new IP comes out a lots of people take their time and see what everyone else is saying about the game. When a sequel to a good game comes out people already have their expectation set high so it's easier to be disappointed.
Exactly what happened to me with Assassin's Creed I.
I thought it was going to be amazing.... but well it was just too repetitive. I only finished it because I wanted to see how it ended, it was worth it though.
Assassin's Creed II is repetitive by a bit but not that much it's funner. The story was kinda disappointing but still awesome.
Well I was like that with Uncharted Drakes Fortunes mainly because Naughty Dog was the dev and the graphics looked really good. It was until I started to play the game that I thought (Damn this is amazing!).:P
