Help, my dvd burner isnt reading anything

its a pioneer, and it just stopped working, i put in a cd or dvd. and nothing, no autoplay.

and in My Computer, there is no icon for the dvd drive

anyone else have a problem like this?

Pioneers suck.

I had a Pioneer before the burner I have now. After about a month, it wouldn't play back movies. A little while after that, it would coaster 30% of the time.

This should really be in hardware.

Check the drives connections, check that the drive is detected at bootup, try a system restore to a time when you know the drive was working OK, check device manager for any problems etc etc.
