Dude there is no "conspiracy theory".
Let me make it clear: Microsoft does not believe they need to please the core gamer. Not me, nor you! We are not their only demographic target nor do they believe pleasing us is their main priority or necessary for their success.Â
They don't care if core Xbox fans get pissed. And they don't care if core Sony fans laugh at them. They really don't. Period. It's been this way for awhile now. It's time to kind of accept it. We're now a lot less relevant to their success, and they already know and have known for a long time anyway. There's only going to be 2 main next-gen competitors. Them and Sony. If you're a core gamer, you're going to buy their crap, either Sony or Microsoft, no matter what. You always have. Since you were little! And they believe you will come along for the ride.
Seriously, you can't tell this? Or do you actually believe they expected core gamers to be happy with the stuff they announced, and it was a "miscalculation" on their part?

I gotta come clear on this. I have no idea what you are talking about and thought you were trolling so only just skimmed through your posts. I am just here to enjoy the gifs. Sorry.Â

If I am core gamer, I have the option to play PC games only. Since when was Sony and MS console purchase mandatory for core gaming?

I'm obviously referring to console gamers, but as I said before, they really don't care if you decide to game on a PC considering they dominate the operating system on that platform.

The dominance of their OS in the PC market is irrelevant to gaming.

How do you figure? If you mean you personally, sure I can understand, but I'm pretty sure just about every PC game out there is designed to run on top of Windows. So how are they irrelevant to gaming if most people can't play PC games without Windows and most PC games engines are designed to be compatible with Windows?
This thread is the best.

Let's make it better. I'll just post a recap from GAF, adding one more.
- Forced online activation for all games
- Complex used games system that is anti consumer
- Charged fee for playing used games on non linked profile
- Console that needs to be connected to internet every 24 hours to play games
- Very few games shown at the event
- Massive emphasis on TV, services and non game related stuff
- Rumoured (relatively weak) hardware confirmed
- DDR3 confirmed instead of GDDR5
- Only 5GB of the 8GB ram available for games (a whopping 3GB reserved for the OS)
- No self publishing for games
- Epic PR disaster with conflicting reports from Microsoft and it's heads
- Xbox support on twitter going AWOLÂ
-Â Microsoft's failed attempts to correct PR with contradicting FAQ's, vague responses, misinformation, lies etc
- Live TV available in US only at launch, requires separate device
- Lots of announced services are for US only
- Kinect needed to be plugged in for Xbox One to function
- Over emphasis on KinectÂ
- Always watching and on Kinect is a tad creepy
- Xbox One having non-replaceable Hard Drive's
- COD Ghosts not looking that great (and the only game that had actual direct gameplay shown)
- Xbox One not being backwards compatible with the 360
- Only HDMI for output, leaving people unable to use composite or component cables
- Console quite large whilst still also using quite a large external power brick
- No headset included
- Xbox One being called Xbox One...
- Microsoft purposely did not target high power
So you guys still think all of this was just an oversight? They didn't know they would piss off the core gamer? Microsoft have puroposely screwed their own product, by doing exactly the things even the entire internet could see would be bad for them, huh?
It's kind of crazy to me GAF has not put the "Epic PR disaster", the conflicting reports, and misinformation together and continue asking what were MS thinking.
Hopefully when everyone wakes up tomorrow we'll all have clearer heads, but I already have a feeling when people are honestly ready to answer that question, nobody's really going to like that answer.
I'm a little concerned they aren't being more vocal. But since they have been so gamer-friendly the last couple of years, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Sony already said on THEIR end they will not be enforcing online always play or be blocking used games. But they will allow third parties to do so. I will be getting a PS4 no matter what, and I already have a Wii U. I will be set. (I will get a PC too, finally, screw xbox)dvader654True, i just preordered after what M$ showed off yesterday. I use M$ sign because they are failing every gamer for the console. I have always been supportive of the 360 and even the original Xbox. But this is something gamers have to use their voice and wallet and tell them NO
We'll see.  But just so I'm clear, you guys do realize I'm agreeing with everything you are all saying? Everything except the part "Microsoft is dumb, they can't see how this is bad for them. What a screw up. Ha ha ha".
Cause I know dvader still doesn't understand what the hell I'm saying.
The next-gen Xbox was never going to reach the standard in Sony's PS4, but yesterday's conference gave me some laughs either way. Waste of money it'll be for the console aswell as the ridiculous amount each month.
sometimes-on features of the Xbox One? You know.... serious freaking issues that has caused major backlash? alexwatchtower
Sony's said the PS4 won't require an internet connection. They never even considered it. A lot of countries don't have great internet service and Sony doesn't want to eliminate them from their group of potential customers.

If I remember correctly, Sony was the first to reach out to a lot of those markets. Swear I've seen numerous stories talking about how they successfully broke into underserved contries where rampant piracy was the only means of obtaining games.
