This console shouldn't have died so early in its life. For a console that pretty much has a 3 year library with last gen graphics I still see myself playing it more so then my original xbox or gamecube. I'm running through Code Veronica right now and I forgot really how much better the old style of Resident Evil was. I'll take CV over 4 anyday.

I've been also playing some Crazy Taxi, Jet Grind Radio, Dead or Alive 2, Vigilante 8 2nd offense, MDK 2, Quake 3 arena, Sonic Adventure, the NFL 2k titles. This console is definitely underrated and one of my personal favorites. Ahead of its time.

Yeah it's a nice system. There are definitely some great games for the system, a lot of the games just didn't have the lasting appeal. It seems most of the popular games were ports or were eventually ported, it was sort of in a rock and a hard-place situation. Not a ton of support, the release-timing advantage failed Sega in the long-run, and it just was easily overshadowed. Don't get me wrong though I still play it quite a bit today!

PS. I tend to be a little negative at times. I teach Principles to Economics and Microeconomics, so when I see something fail, which the Dreamcast did, there has to be reasons for it. Capitalism is all about timing, perception and the ability to out-play (I use this term loosely) competitors...

It is a timeless system. For the 3-years it was being supported it cranked out some absolute gems and it's library is on par with systems that lasted twice as long (XBOX and Gamecube). For various reasons, the Dreamcast is one of my all time favorite consoles and I will never get tired of all the great games on it.

It's actually a pretty cool console, too bad it died soon. Sonic Adventure, Shenmue and Crazy Taxi were awesome :D

It really surprises me how many good games the system has in the short life it led.

I still remember seeing the Dreamcast before release at Funcoland and they had demos of NFL 2k and sonic adventure, it was mind blowing in terms of visuals.

Project Justice is a fantastic game (i can see you be a fan). I got it today and have ben playing around with it. The graphics are decent, but the gameplay rocks.

I would absolutely LOVE to have a brand-new, out-of-the-box Sega Dreamcast. It has a great certain feel to it, and I agree it should've kept going on with its lifespan even if the original XBOX, Gamecube, or PS2 was released. We would've seen more games if that dd happen. I heard stores are still selling them brand-new, but I do not know of them as of this time.

I do love my dreamcast, and some of the games were just awesome. I never could get used to the squeaking from the system and the controller cord pointing the wrong way.

Yep, great system. It sucks that Sega is out of the console game, but what a swan-song it was. Great library, especially considering it only had 3 years to build that library.

About the cord complaint coming out of the bottom of the controller: There's a notch at the top of the controller where you can stick the cord, and it's just like it comes out the top. What I find strange about the controller is how much weight a rumble-pack adds to the controller. It feels like a different controller altogether with one of them in there.

I have one in my collection haha, brand new in the box Sega Dreamcast. Sitting in the top of my closet just behind my NES and N64. The one I play though is starting to turn yellow from uv exposure, wont clean off its like the old SNES's. He was built to game though, not look pretty.

Emerald Warrior is right about the notch up top and how heavy that old rumble pak is, lol.

I love the whining of the dreamcast during start up and loading. One of the loudest systems ever.

Still play mine often. It's such a shame Sega had made so many poor decisions prior to the Dreamcast. They had burned bridges with retailers, developers and consumers with all of the abandoning of hardware (Sega CD, 32X, Saturn). By the time the Dreamcast came about and carved a legitimate niche in the marketplace, the damage was done. I feel like the industry itself isn't the same without a console from Sega duking it out. Of course the Dreamcast also had the misfortune of having to go up against what has proven to be the most successful system in history (the PS2). With close to 160-million units sold (versus Microsoft's 24-mil and Nintendo's 21.7 million), it becomes clear that Sony's freight-train would not be denied; by Sega or anybody else.

Have you seen Sega's financial situation recently? They'll be lucky if they're still making games in 5-years from now, much less a new console. As much and you, me and millions of others wish they would enter the console race again, it just isn't going to happen. Competing in the video game console market has become way to expensive and competative for just anyone to enter.
