For me it's tough to find time to play games mainly because I have kids and I work alot but I try to game at least a few hours a dayon the weekend and if I'm not too tired I play a bit after work on the weekdays.

I can kind of sense the, "gee... you guys really need to get a life" vibe from what you're saying (maybe I'm imagining it...). The answer's pretty simple, and obvious. We have the time to play games and be involved in the gaming community because we choose to. And, to be clear, post count and number of consoles isn't a trusty way to gauge how much actual time people spend on the hobby.
Some of you have 5K+ forum posts, have 3 of the next-gen systems and a game library exceeding 20.

1. They've been here for a while.
2. Rich bastards. Well I could have them too if I didn't have my PC.
3. Previous and they've gamed for a long time.
Just wait until you go to college/university. Then you will have time :D
It's not that I think you guys don't have a life. I would imagine you guys would live much busier lives than me since you guys probably have families, jobs or university, etc.I sometimes ask myself where I get the time, too. I mean, all it takes is for me to buy ONE book, and then I'm like, "okay, how'm I gonna read this and keep up with Virtua Fighter now?" I honestly don't know how to explain how I spread my leisure time except that, perhaps, playing games when I've got the time just oomes naturally.
I just have school, piano, guitar. School takes up a lot of my life (due to the fact I go to an independent learning school and there is probably double the amount of hw at a regular school.)

I can't speak for anyone else but I'll be the first to admit that I personally have no life. That's why I have the time to play so many games. I do have a full-time job and the responsibilities of being independent, but outside of that, I pour a lot of time into games because I have no options at the moment that I enjoy more than games. If I did, I'd play less.
Having once had a life, I can tell you that it is better to have one. Games are fun and all, but it's better to have an active social life and spend time on lots of different things than just games, so don't feel bad for not having enough time to play all the stuff you want. But it's possible to have a job, family, social life, etc. and still be able to play quite a few games because I know people who do it (family can actually help in that regard since they can play games with their kids). They just have to pick and choose what they want to play.
As far as 5k posts on a message board, that could be as easy as having a daily 8-5office job like mine with no Internet block and no browsing police :)
It's difficult. Right now I have an extremely tight work schedule, but you always make some time. Just enough to avoid arthritis, but not enough to warm the seat properly.
I basically play when I'm at home unless I am too exhausted to (which is when I read). I watch about a hour of TV a day, no movies etc.. and game the rest of the time. I also run and cycle almost every day too, so i'm not a sluggard, it's just that gaming is my only passive activity hobby.
my solution is...
sleep less.

Ditto. Between full time work, and other commitments, I don't often have a lot of time to play games. I still buy a lot, but anymore there's less of a chance for me to fully explore the games like I would prefer to. Luckily my job isn't too demaning, so I have often gotten by on 4 or 5 hours of sleep. Most nights, I don't get to unwind with a movie or game until about midnight.
Also, as said above, the number of games/consoles and posts you have here doesn't necessarily indicate how much time you're spending on games. A lot of folks with the high post counts have been here awhile. If they're like me, a lot of folks might also be buying games in bulk when they've hit the $15 and under price range.
I'm in University...I play division1 college football...I have a girlfriend...and that's it.
Thaqts where I get my time to play, I don't have much of a life outside of those things listed above. My choice though...I don't like drinking and partying as much as I thought I would...there will be plenty of time to have fun after I'm done with school.
Although your workload will continually increase after high school (college, job/family), you will also learn how to prioritize and only take on what you can.
I always make sure to have about 3-5 hours a week to myself, whether to read, play games, surf the intratubes, etc.
Add that wisdom to a decent salary, and you have the ability to buy more consoles, PC components, games, etc.
I'm only 16 so I'm assuming I am rather young compared to the rest of the community here. But you guys are crazy. Some of you have 5K+ forum posts, have 3 of the next-gen systems and a game library exceeding 20.
How the hell do you guys have times to play games? I probably only have time for 2-6 hours of gaming a week.

I never thought about how I do it. I just do I guess. I never have any problems.
I spent a ton of time with my girlfriend, and then i also have class, and sleeping. I get my gaming in whenever i can. It's a good thing my girlfriend is a gamer, we played Mario Galaxy together tonight. Lots of fun.bluezy
My girlfriend and I are playing through Mario Galaxy atm as well. We take turns with galaxies with me doing the bosses. She doesn't always enjoy the wii-mote levels but I make her do them haha. Its a great way to increase gaming time and quality time. Thank you Nintendo.

I play for the same amount of time as you do. Sometimes if I'm on a vacation, sick, or otherwise have a reason to leave my responsibilities behind, I can play for 4-5 hours in a day. But that's rare. And I almost never play after 8pm, because I'm usually tired and don't enjoy games when I'm sleepy. And for your info... I have 800 posts, all 3 next-gen systems, and more than 60 games for them. :)

Statistics show that people spend an average of 1 to 3 hours a day watching tv (and I would add: braindead tv shows). Cut your tv time and you get an extra 1-3 hours every day for other activities, including gaming. I did so and it works.
Well, that's nice. The Wii is bringing couples closer together lol :)
I am interested in getting a Wii but the main thing that holds me back is it looks a lot more fun as a multiplayer system for parties and things. Like back in the day after highschool 6 mates coming over to play mario kart 64 and goldeneye etc... Well, I don't have that any more. Is it worth it if I'm only ever going to be playing singleplayer on it?

Thank you Nintendo. My girlfriend prefers to just collect the gems with the second wiimote, which is fine with me. There are other games we play, too, like Wii Sports and racing games. But SMG is definitely the most fun game to play together.
I'm 34 have 3 kids, and still make time. Don't golf, hunt, fish rarely. My job enables me to work from home 2-3 days per week which means staying on my blackberry all day in front of the tv. My wife would much rather me be home playing games than out on hunting trips or golfing weekly. So it's a win win in my house. I have a PS3 & 360, 40+ games, but sometimes I play 2 hours per week, sometimes 15, just varies.
I don't remember the time that I didn't been playing, since old days I've been a gamer, and I'm just 20.
But well, the 'sleep less' commentary, is totally truth, but hey, it's worth it ^^
But even that, personally I'm good managing time for what I want, I work, I study, I hang out, and still have lots of time to be gaming my lovely last gen games.
