Basically, I want to know if there are a tonne of micro transactions involved or not? can you level up without them with new equipment and weapons being unveiled the better you get or is it just play and win?

There are micro transactions but you can unlock anything just by playing. Any game you buy typically isnt pay to win.

That's an issue. People will just start buying up more than what players can progress naturally.

I asked the question because I'd heard rumours. Sadly, not a buy for me.

@soul_starter: it is not pay to win, and you don't need to buy anything other than the game (and DLC, if you want it...BF DLC is generally top notch so I recommend it).

They do offer the option to purchase unlocks so you don't have to play to unlock them, but that's kind of lame imo. It doesn't take very long to unlock weapons and mods, and playing to unlock them is not only fun, but it helps you become familiar with the weapon.

So no, there are no microtransactions.

There are no microtransactions like you're used to in other games, and most people in my experience play to unlock, not pay to unlock. I wouldn't miss out on what sounds like a good game (and what is an amazing series) because you don't like that a few people can unlock some weapons before you.

BF 1 reviews have been a horrendous cover up. It takes a long, LONG time to unlock the weapons. You could be playing the mp for hours on end, be very good, earn lots of kills and other points but still only make slight progress in terms of unlocking more weaponry. Too many reviews are eitheri n progress (a cheap tactic to delay reviews as much asp ossible during the release window of the game) or just skip over the mp.

From what I've seen in trusted sources and people who have the game, unlocking weaponry is bs in this mp. I'd stay away until the game releases as a cheaper package.

@soul_starter: unlocking weapons is actually pretty easy, believe it or not; instead of working your way through a "tree", you simply earn war bonds (the currency) and unlock whatever weapons and tools you like in whatever order. There are occasionally some level requirements, but those are easily met.

But whatever, it sounds like you either A.) have made up your mind no matter what information comes your way, or B.) you're a CoD fanboy masquerading as a potential BF player.

CoD or Titanfall 2 should be out soon, I'm sure either of those will suit you just fine despite also having "microtransactions" and unlocks.
