For me, it varies based on the game. A game where there is constantly something to do like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild could probably keep me engaged until I stop to grab a snack. Then it's back to playing. For me, a game which can be played for a great length of time is usually an action-adventure RPG with dozens of hours of side quests with different features.
An example of a game I can't okay for too long is Sea of Thieves. The first few hours might be a fun time with some friends but after a while, the monotony of each voyage starts to take its toll and I'm tempted to either log off or switch to something else. I feel like a game always needs something to keep the player on their toes in order to get any serious amounts of hours played, which is something that many games lack.
In the end, I think that the real question is,"Which game keeps you engaged for the longest?". Game developers should always try to add as much variety into their game as possible without making it convoluted or confusing.
