I played a little as a child but was more interested in PnP RPG. I've been playing since the days of playstation one. I own a ps2 and a 3 but Im really more of a pc guy. There's not alot of strategy games for console and not many diablo like games for console. But really I've been playing mostly since 1999 and before that it wasn't that much.
Been into gaming for 30 years, played my first game in 1984 when i was 4 on my brothers gaming system, i think it was an Atari. The first game i can remember i played was a Namco game,it was Pacman. After that i have been playing mostly commodore 64 in the mid 80s and then the Nintendo systems and playstation systems, allthough i have an xbox 360. Today i still play games from Namco, one of my favourite game series of all times is the tekken series and the game i consider the best game ever made to this date is The Last Of Us because of the story, characters, acting, gameplay, visuals and it also has one heck of a multiplayer.
I've been gaming since 1990 so about 24 years. What about you? Do you ever see yourself quitting games? Personally I cannot.
I enjoy games more than any other form of entertainment, I just couldn't ever see my self stopping to play.
I can quit playing I did for about 2 years, and on and off during all my years but at some point I always came back because I missed some aspect of it.
Been playing games as long as i have been reading books and watching tv, and no why would I quit playing games? it would be like quitting books, listening to music or watching tv/movies and i dont get asked if i quit that.
I'm 21 and have been gaming since I was eight years old IIRC. So I've been gaming for more than half my life and don't plan on stopping. My mom still thinks gaming is a kiddie activity. I told her the average gamer is in their thirties and she responded my saying that they "should get jobs". O_____O Because it's impossible to hold a job and have a gaming schedule at the same time. >_> My mom watches TV for several hours after she's done working, so why would I not be able to play games after coming home after my future job? Not to mention there are actually more gamers over 35 than under 18. Kiddie activity, my ass.
Damn, some old futs in here.... j/k :)
Born in '77, gaming since around '83-'84 I'd say. Atari and Collecovision are my very first gaming memories. ET, Pitfall, Tank.
I'm NEVER stopping gaming. I love it, in fact I think I'm almost addicted to it. I'm just bummed I'm probably not going to live long enough to see the real cool shit arrive.
I was born in 1991 and my Dad had me playing games when I was about 2 years old, so for about 21 years. Gaming has and always will be a big part of my life.
Been gamin since 1979 about the time Asteroids and Space Invaders was in the arcade. Got an Intellivision in 1981 but spent most of my time playing Defender Stargate at the local store. Started back up in 85 with SMB. Then got back into gamin with SF2 on the Snes. Been playing ever since.
I've been gaming for about as long as I can remember and I'm 28 now. I remember playing Ninja Turtles and Super Mario Bros. 3 when I was about 4 or 5. And I never plan to stop gaming.
Since I was 4, so roughly 20 years give or take a few years as I didn't get my first console until I was around 8 or 9. I had to rely on playing games at friends houses or borrowing their gameboys and asking my mum if I could keep them and pretend it got lost.
Wow, I feel young here. I took an interest in playing games pretty early on. I'd say I was probably 3 or 4 when I played my first game. So I guess I'd say 1998, or 15-16 years. I've probably at least doubled or even tripled the number of games I've played in the last 5 years, though. Before that I was fairly casual, sticking to a few games a year and playing the ones I had for a very long time.
My situation was pretty similar. I played outside a lot when I was a primary school kid. I do remember playing Commander Keen and Monster Bash. I was never allowed to play violent games, but I didn't really care. My game playing became more intense with Age of Empires 2. I do remember spending many hours on games in highschool, but, as you said, only a few games in the year. I've always been much more passionate about and occupied with collecting music, until I started writing my master's thesis on music in videogames, about 2 years ago. Now my love for music and videogames is pretty much equal. I've only been interested in news, streams and forums for about a year, though. And to contain myself I really only focus on GS related stuff (which was a random pick).
I've never played on consoles, however. There is/was no need, no emotional attachment and no social pressure. During my childhood I also think in Europe (or at least The Netherlands, where I'm from) consoles weren't as much a matter of course as they were in the US. But that's speculation, of course.
I started playing video games on 2002 and I was 5 years old when I started playing my first PS2 Console now I am 17 years old but my favorite Console is PS2,GameGube,Wii,PS3 and PS4.
