I just can't get into controllers again. Playing with the keyboard and mouse feels so much fun and in controls with all of my favorite genres like RPGs, FPSs, flight sims, and puzzlers. Of course it can't play all genres better but for the most part, it just feels more intuitive and more fun. For example, hack-n-slash games are much more fun with the mouse and keyboard than the standard controller.

I think devs. should make an option to use the keyboard/mouse all PS3/360 games that really could benefit from it. The new Unreal Tournament is a step in the right direction, kudos to Epic for the keyboard/mouse option.

I much prefer keyboard/mouse for first-person and top-down games, but for everything else I prefer a controller.

Being a PC gamer, I would prefer playing with keyboard and mouse than the traditional controller on all games but if it's compared to the wii mote there are some games i prefer using the wii mote.

I couldn't agree more. With the exception of driving games, a mouse and keyboard is superior for control, without a doubt.

For the life of me, I don't know why modern consoles don't have an option for mouse for controller support for all games. I know UT3 will have it for the PS3, but why doesn't all games? If I were Sony, I would require that all games made to be able to played with a mouse as well as controller, thereby attracting millions of PC players to their console.

I think a LOT of users, including me, would abandon PC games forever if consoles allowed mouse and keyboard control for all their games.

-SJ

p.s. - I understand why Microsoft doesn't do it with the 360, because I realize they don't want the 360 to intrude too much on Games for Windows.

For games like Smash Bros, a controller is much more logical for me. However, for most other games the K/B & Mouse is my preferred option. The Wii controller is becoming a close second in my books though.

It depends. There are some games I just feel more comfortable playing with a controller, like Halo. I just don't like the keyboard and mouse configuration for that game. Guess I'm just too accostumed to the controller.

yeah, mouse and keyboard are a must for shooters and strategy games, but sports games stink without the fun little analog sticks...

I think they both have games that they are better at. RTS and MMOs have never really worked well with just a controller. Likewise action/fighting and most sports dont work so well with a keyboard.

Its not so much the controls, but how the game is designed that dictates what my control preference is.

I am both a pc/console gamer and tend to favor controllers due to the more ergonomic feel of sitting on the couch with one "tool" in my hands:P

It is far more convenient and more suitable to play with a "contoller":P Then there is that wonderful experience of "goood viiiibbbbraaatttions" that the rumble feature exudes.;) @ least with the 360 controller.

Guilty as charged. I've been using mouse + KB for years and years now, and when I first tried using a controller for a shooter it was an excercise in torture and futility.

Yep. IMO fighting, sportsand driving games are impossible to play with mouse and keys. On the other hand, RTS and FPSs are much better with a mouse and keys. All the other genres can be played either way, depends on the person and the way the interface is designed.

I fail to see why this is still an issue, however. It's also beyond my comprehension why console developers refuse to support mouse and keys, even though the usb ports are there.

The last PC game I played was Half Life when it made it's debut. I have to agree that the keyboard control was great, very quick and precise, but now I play only console and have no prob with contollers, However, I do have preferance, I like the 360 control over the ps1 2 or 3 contoller. It just feels more comfortable to me.

I prefer controller over mouse and keyboard for any game. Mouse and keyboard are too bulky and were not designed to play games, that's my opinion.

I thought the same way until I played RTSs and FPSs with the keyboard/mouse. Have you tried playing with the keyboard and mouse like FPS or RTS? Maybe you just don't prefer PC games.

I tried playing Call of Duty 3 on my PS2 after playing Call of Duty 2 on the PC. The controller is extremely difficult to aim and control. With the mouse, I felt like a sharpshooter.

Yeah, I really dislike PC gaming and I'm not too keen on RTS games either. I like a good FPS, just not on PC. PC gaming feels hackneyed to me.

I love the xbox 360 controller and when playing games like GoW, GRAW, u realize it all depends on the game's design, no controlling method is better than another. I've played Halo on PC and xbox. On PC it felt awkward and clunky, with the xbox 360 controller that fits my hands prefectly, playing Master Chief (or Arbiter) in Halo 1 or 2 feels like a second skin to me, it really does, unlike any other game I play. I do prefer playing on a console, but I have had undeniably good times with friends in BF2 and some HL2 mods like Dystopia

I think the only benefitsto keyboard/mouse are increased accuracy and more buttons, but I also find it feelingclunky at times, not designed for games

For FPS and RTS I'll take the keyboard/mouse, but other than that I prefer the controller. Aside from liking to lie down on the couch when I play, too much mouse/keyboard makes my hands sting. Plus I never was very good with the keyboard and never have gotten used to hotkeys. When I play, it's usually mouse and arrow keys/right side of the keyboard. That combination against someone who can fly around the keyboard with hotkeys is usually a recipe for getting pwnt.
