Hey, i just wante to know how many of us still reserve video games(besides madden)? I mean with the high prices of certain video game consoles as of late, alot of people wont pay more than $300 for a console(crazy i know) which has made gaming a little bit less popular which would make video games a little bit more accesible. So who's still reserving?

*raises hand*

I've currently got Bioshock special edition, Eternal Sonata (I did it for the faceplate), and Halo 3 legendary edition reserved at the local GameStop.

I do. Since I'm going to buy it the day it comes out anyways, I might as well have one set aside for me. Who knows what may happen.

The thread title is about games, and the first post is about consoles... Which one are we talking about?

EDIT: Anyway, I reserve games all the time. There's no risk, so why not?

I will only reserve games that GameStop will sell at midnight. Otherwise, I go to Best Buy or Circuit City for everything else.

Last game I reserved was STALKER. Before that? "Enter the Matrix."

So no, I don't really reserve games because one of the 101 electronics stores around me will have a few copies of the game I want. Within 10 miles I have 3 Targets, 1 Walmart, 1 BestBuy, 1 Circuit City, probably 10 GameStops, 1 Toys R Us (great for getting newly released console games) and then one of the largest malls in America (Sawgrass Mills Mall).

The biggest advantage I see regarding pre-ordering/reserving games is that it helps generate demand within stores before the game ships, which not only means that games would have a larger initial shipment, but (according to what I've been told), they are also more likely to have a second shipment come in, as there was a larger initial demand for the product.

Especially when it comes to more niche/rare titles, or games that I'm very interested in supporting off the bat...I would absolutely reserve the game.

I rarely buy games new, but when I do, I always reserve them no matter what. For obscure titles, they usually only get a few copies in and they end up sold out rather quickly. And of course, for more popular titles, they sell out either way.

Once in awhile I'll reserve a game especially if it has a cool pre-order bonus or it is a very limited special edition. I'm probably going to end up reserving myself a copy of Halo 3 Legendary Edition since it will probably be in pretty limited quantities.

I always reserve the "big" titles that I know I want on release day. Also, as Skylock stated, I like to reserve niche titles too. Sometimes those games are damn hard to find.

Years ago, I reserved Panzer Dragoon Saga for Sega Saturn months ahead of time.In fact, I was the only person to pre-order the game at my local Babbage's store. As luck would have it, theyonly recieved one copy. However, the manager told me that he had about 20 people calling in that day trying to buy my copy, but he refused to sell it because I had the only pre-order. I went home very happy that day. :)

So yeah, I still pre-order.

Well, I work at an EBgames and if it's an obscure title and no one reserves it they may not send us copies until maybe 2 weeks after the release. That's what happened with Hotel Dusk at our store, as an example.

I almost pre-ordered Crysis since the price was pretty good, but I have a feeling I'm going to wait awhile on that one.

I have never reserved a game, and have never had any trouble finding a game I wanted. It seems like Gamestop is the only place that makes you reserve titles, and the only place that ever runs out of titles. I find this odd, because games are all that they sell. There has never been a game that I wanted that I couldn't find at Target, Circuit City, Best Buy, or Frye's within 1 or 2 days of it's release.

Normally I like to reserve the games I'm massively keen on, this year will probably one of my most "reserving" year, with games like Halo 3, GTA IV, Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed all to preorder. If I have any doubts about a game I want, I normally wait a few weeks, read a few reviews, then decide.

I find myself reserving so many games so far in advance, that I forget which ones I've put money down on.

I usually only preorder games that are sure to have quality; Zelda games for instance, but occasionally i'll reserve a niche title that has a limited release but possibly have a strong initial demand.

I've only reserved one game, and it was a Sims expansion. If there's a game i want, i can usually find it around here, if not online.

I Pre-ordered Eternal Sonata just a few days ago.

Because you get a really nice Bonus with it when you pre-order it. Also, I think it's really cool that it will have three player cooperative play! As confirmed during E3.
