Why do people have a ps1 if they have a ps2 or ps3. same with a gamecube if they have a wii.

In my case, we don't get rid of the old ones. Why? If our youngest kid decides she wants to play video games, she gets the hand-me-downs. The older kid gets the new ones.

I see what you're saying with the PS2 and Gamecube, but a lot of the PS3s don't actually play PS2 discs. I think it was only the first year models that can. -Nate-

I have my Wii in the living room and the Gamecube with Game Boy Player in my bedroom. My PS3 is non-backwards compatible. My PS2 is in my bedroom and the PS1 is stored away for travel. It's a lot more portable than my PS2.

A lot of people are collectors as well as players. I have multiple consoles that play the same games but are different in some way. It's like I have a Tommy Hilfiger GBC, Kiwi Green GBC, Teal GBC, Teal GBC without the GBC logo on the front, Atomic Purple GBC...and thats just GBC's.
