I know it was an Atari 2600!! i believe I was maybe 6 or 7.. I still have it packed away in a box in storage.
My parents bought my sister and I a NES when she was 4 and I was 2. I probably didn't start playing till I was 4.
I was like 7 or 8. I don't remember. My very first game system was a purple Game Boy Color. I still have it and it's very precious for that reason. I got it for my 7th or 8th birthday as well as all three version of Pokemon and a pack of AA bateries. I thinkChristmas that year was when I got my first major console, an N64. That year was 1999. I got into gaming later than most. A lot of fellow gamers I knew told that they has an SNES or a Sega console usually due to an older sibling that played games.
I'm certainly more hardcore than them though.
Got a Sega Mega Drive for Christmas when I was 7 with Castle of Illusion, World Cup Italia 90 (and got Sonic 1 on the boxing day). I had asked for a NES and didn't know what a 'Sega' was, but when I got it I was blown away by the 16 bit-ness of it all. :P
I'd been playing stuff like Outrun and Clowns on my brothers Commodore 64 since I was about 4 though.
Damn. You people are all lucky, I didn't get a console until I was 14, it was an N64. My mom was against them, but I saved up and bought one for myself.
That I got a console for myself? Probably a PS1 when i was about 8 or something. But i was sharing consoles before that with cousins etc etc Like the N64.
4 years old it was an Atari 2600. I still have it and all the games and it works.
But the first console I ever bought myself was an NES. I was 8 years old and saved my lunch money for an entire school year.
My mom was shocked that I showed that kind of dedication to something and made sure I had 4 games to go with my new system after she picked it up for me.
I was 6 when the NES came out. My best friend got one, so I wanted one sooo bad. After 6 months of constantly begging my parents, I got one. My parents reluctently bought me a Genesis and SNES for opposite Christmas's. After that I was on my own, as dad said he would never again spend any money on "a waste of time". So I made up my mind to start saving my own money for games. I made money any way I could and bought the Playstation as my first system bought by myself. From then on it was all me.
P.S. Im 32 now and my dad still shakes his head if I mention video games. dumbass (sorry dad)
My first actual console was when I was like 8 or 9 and it was a ps2.
I played nes snes gensesis and dos also though.
I was 6 when we got the Atari 2600. We had a Sears branded pong before that but I don't really count that. Didn't play it much at all.
