How to play the updated COD Ghosts local multiplayer without Xbox Live

I updated my COD Ghosts on Xbox 360, but whenever I try to play multiplayer, it says I need Xbox Live to continue, which I don't. It seems to be impossible to play even LOCAL multiplayer without Xbox Live, which seems silly. Anyways, in order to play I had to delete the title update, but I really want to update it. Any help?

That's odd, I remember reading somewhere that it didnt need a gold account to play botmatch and local. Double check that you are actually selecting the "Local" option from the menu, and if that's not the problem, try deleting the patch and try with your router turned off entirely.
