I liked JC denton a lot better he had a bad ass voice, the human revolution character mumbles almost all of his lines.
I knew someone eventually was going to say that, it was inevitable. I haven't played HR yet, so ain't gonna disagree until i get my hands on it and replay it a couple of times to see if its on par with the original.
Seems to me like you never liked the first one that much. You're talking about its cons that were well known since a decade ago, but you don't mention its pros.
The DX1 characters were flat and one dimensional outside the AIs. Even the sequel IW is better in this regardtexasgoldrushand
no more putting skill points in being able to shoot normally.texasgoldrushwhich I seriously disagree with.
no more putting skill points in being able to shoot normally.texasgoldrushwhich I seriously disagree with. The characters outside of the AI's ARE one dimensional. Paul Denton and Alex Jacobson may be exceptions however the rest of the cast are just agendas in human form. The characters were not great in the first game, its the world and setting that carry it. Page is just a one dimensional villian who just wants power. Contrast that with HR or even IW, with the characters being more than just agendas, but have lives as well. The first third of the game is just not fun if you want to play a combat character, the aim simply sucks. Its better to bve good and then get better than to level a character to not suck.
substance >>>>> style They have very similiar voices, however, Jensen is a far deeper and much more multidimensional character than JC is. JC is almost a parody of an action hero than a real character, even though at points there are flashes of greatness like when he debates Isaac at the Hong Kong club.I liked JC denton a lot better he had a bad ass voice, the human revolution character mumbles almost all of his lines.

While I do think this is an awesome game, I tought the AI was a little too dopey at times, which kinda kills the tension when sneaking around. It's almost comical how easily you can pick off enemies 1 by 1......though I admit, I haven't played through the game on the hardest difficulty yet...

I agree with that too. I still love the origional, dated that it is and allI really heard from the origional post was the cons of the first one.

Because people continously ignore the cons while declaring the first game the best game ever......see PC Gamer.I really don't know about better then original. Omitting graphics which is a given, the AI is poor, the animations of characters is not up to todays standards, the game mechanics have not evolved at all (shoot guy.. run around corner.. wait and bam.. everything back to normal), the boss fights seem a bit misplaced. They definitely gave the gamers who enjoyed dues ex original want they wanted but the definitely have not moved forward for me to say its superior. jedikevin2And the AI wasn't pooir in the original by 2000 standards? Or the facial animation isn't poor by 2000 standards? Actually everything isn't back to normal as alerted hostile gaurds will have different more aggressive patrols if they lose sight of player. So boss battles may be misplaced in the new game, however, what also is misplaced in the first game are, once again, boss battles, and even more misplaced is that even if you avoid them, the game still says they are dead. The storytelling moved forward, the characterization moved forward, the social system and social boss battles moved forward, and the gunplay moved forward.
I prefer it over the original, but it's only natural since games have come a long way since then and I would've been disappointed if the things you said improved weren't improved. I really like the dialogue options in the game, they feel a lot more real than in ME2 (idk why, but a lot of people compare the 2 now). I also agree that the AI is pretty good, sure it isn't the best this gen, but there's really nothing about it that ruins the game for me. Overall, I would put this vs Skyrim as GOTY.
I've only played a few hours so far. But so far I think it is almost too much like the original. The original was great and I was hoping for some of the core gameplay to be similar. But they also made the mission designs very similar; I'm constantly saying to myself "deja vu". And I was hoping for more new augs, but most of them are repeats. It's good for a sequel (or prequel in this case) to be true to the original, but it also needs enough new stuff to justify making it and justify us buying it. Still, it kicks the second game in the booty.
Does no one else notice the mumbling from the Human Revolution character it really makes it hard to like him as the main character

Using anything other then a stealth weapon within range of multiple enemies gets the AI on Hostile status. And if the AI notices their comrade is missing, they will actively search you out. I agree about the animations, but I think part of that is because of LA Noire. The animations are about on par with Mass Effect 2, so a little bit dated but not too badly.
I hate to be that guy, but I pretty much disagree with everything stated in the thread. Human Revolution has quite annoying characters (who often talk a lot with very little to say), really lame protagonist (very unmemorable), forced narrative (including the lengthy and boring introduction sequences), and over all the gameplay is worse (extremely repetitive stealth-kill / duck and cover shooting gameplay). Human Revolution puts a lot of emphasis on its narrative, but I simply didn't find that narrative engaging in the least. I haven't beaten the game or anything yet but I guess there's very little driving me to do so.
Human Revolution doesn't have cringeworthy moments like this.....

The comedic value of the voice acting is way higher than the value of anything HR's voice acting has to offer. The voice actors in HR take themselves so seriously (while at the same time still remaining rather poor) which is why I found HR's voice acting just painful.
I like this one much better. While the original's strengths lied in its freedom to choose how you wished to play, poor design and execution ruined that choice (unless you played stealthly). The shooting was so incredibly unsatisfying to use, in fact it was painful, and coupled with the braindead A.I., I had no incentive to fight my way through which is how I wished to play. Melee was simply knocking down cardboard cutouts with two frames of animation, in HR it's much more satisfying seeing takedowns. Facial and body language were basically non-existent in the first, here it's not MUCH better, but is still a vast improvement.
I really couldn't get into the first because, while the concept was great, it was technically poorly done on a few critical fronts. HR strikes me as a much more complete and well rounded package.

That actually talk like human beings and not just agenda peddlers. Really DX1 characters are all about their agenda, nothing more. They are very dry and robotic by comparision to HR or even IW characters. The protagonist is far from lame, he is a fleshed out tortured protagonist who tries to do the right thing and gets caught up in events while still being badass. What is JC in comparison? Just a badass with no real substance. Hilariously, he becomes a far more fleshed out character in the SEQUEL. Duck and cover and stealth kill gameplay is far better than not being able to shoot a guard point blank in th ehead because your skill is too low. At least the RPG elements don't run the action elements. The voice acting for the most part is excellent, far better than the horrible DX1 and DXIW VA. Jensen was excellent.

I'd rather have to-the-point dialogue rather than the boring dialogue in the sequel.
The game is fantastic, but I actually found the story lacking. The world in which it takes place is incredible and the conversations can be interesting, but the story itself seemed a bit lacking to me. That said, the ending choice and cutscene were both amazing.

I'd rather have to-the-point dialogue rather than the boring dialogue in the sequel. To th epoint dialogue makes it far more likely that you have one dimensional characters and that was the problem with the first game, other than Paul Denton or Jacobson, the Deus Ex characters are VERY shallow and one dimensional because they are only defined by their agenda. The VA is not Bioware or Rockstar level (no VA the level of Bethany Hawke or Cole Phelps), however its better than The Witcher 2's and Adam Jensen has a VERY similiar voice to Geralt. The only bad VAs were Zhao Yun Ru and some of the minor NPCs, especially the homeless women who gives you a door code for beer. And consider the first two Deus Ex games, the VA is a huge improvement.
Deus Ex:HR is superior to the original and IW in that it doesn't radically change the gameplay mechanics, it takes the original mechanics and improves on them drastically. It's not going to win awards for it's gunplay or stealth action, but it does both fairly well to be an enjoyable experience either way you choose to play the game. The fact that the main character mumbles is an obvious throwback to the emotionless, monotone voice of JC, which I both loved and was thrilled to hear every line Jansen spoke. The characters are far more fleshed out, you're not just some killing machine like in the first DX, you are a man who was forced into being something he never really wanted but still having to do what needs to be done to acheive justice. (Whatever you interpret justice to be as a player anyway.) I loved the augs they had to offer in this game, and utilized certain ones to fit my playstyle, while completely ignoring others. Stealth is much better in this game, which isa given since in 10 years AI has improved dramatically, (or so I like to think anyway), and while still being exploitable and dopey at times, can deliver a tense and engaging experience. This game is a lot like the original, but far superior, it's even loaded with phrases and codes which harken back to the old days ( the first code being 0451? Haha I got a joy out of seeing that. Smash the state? Loved it.) Overall, I completely agree with the TC when he says it is a far superior game, while I love both. Nostalgia blinders off, HR is the game to play in the DX series.
It definitely is. Far superior both in terms of presentation (which is to be expected, of course) and gameplay.
Which doesn't surprise me, the first Deus Ex has aged horribly, it's terribly outdated now.
I loved the augs they had to offer in this game, and utilized certain ones to fit my playstyle, while completely ignoring others. MLBknights58I found the augs to probably be the weakest part of the game. If I were making another Deus Ex, I would spend the most time designing the augmentation system and think of new, more interesting augs. Here, they just used the same basic ones from the original, and added a couple useless others.
Every time I had praxis to spend, I usually struggled selecting anything I wanted or needed. Being a fan of stealth games, I didn't really need any stealth augs to help me with my stealth ability. The weapon ones are pointless for people who prefer to focus on stealth. A couple of the hacking ones help make the game easier, but after awhile I was able to progress without hacking everything. There was always a duct or code nearby. The emails on all the hacked computers were not very interesting (just like the emails at my real job).
In short, I am saying I wish they made the aug system more integrated with the game so that augs are both fun and required to progress, not optional. Aumentation is the main point of a Deus Ex game.
Saying otherwise is just nostalgia. Lets see.... Gameplaywise) The shooting is way more fun, no more putting skill points in being able to shoot normally. You start being able to aim and not look like Dumb and Dumber in the early stages and you get better through a much better leveling system. The AI is much better and plays like a better stealth game than the original. The hacking is better as well. Far less "invincible" NPCs although I did find some late in the game. Not as hugely blantant as the first game though. You can't pull a gun in Sarif Industries unlike UNATCO. (Invsisble War did it better in regards to NPCs by having no weapon zones or hiding NPCs behind glass). The social system is a huge step up from the original. The stage design is much better as well and a nice balance between the huge open spaces of the first and the tight corridors of Invisible War. While not great, better "boss" battles than the first game. While the bosses can be avoided in the first game, the game says they are dead anyway, breaking immersion. HR just kills them but I wish you could save the female boss. Only time in the game Jansen should have a choice that teh game doesn't give. Storywise) MUCH better protagonist. JC Denton is a shallow puddle compared to the depth that Adam Jansen brings. Jansen is less humourus than JC but makes up for it by being a lot more human. Also has a richer backstory and much better relationships with characters. FAR BETTER characters. The DX1 characters were flat and one dimensional outside the AIs. Even the sequel IW is better in this regard. HR blows both games away with three dimensional characters who feel far more human than the robotic like characters of the first game. Faridah Malak is simply awesome, a far better character than Jock was in the original or the human pilot in the sequel (although I like Ava in the sequel a lot, the AI pilot). Sarif isn't the typical corrupt executive, he does care about his employees and his cause. Even Pritchard is a better, more fleshed out character than Jacobson. Hugh Darrow...wow...very unpredictable. And the social "boss" battles really bring the characters to life. I love how you attempt to stop Sandoval from killing himself. This level of humanity wasn't in the first game. MUCH BETTER narrative. In fact the first games narrative was mediocre at best, it was the setting and world that was great. The first game had huge pacing problems and in the end, while it was a fun story, it wasn't all that relevant (and the sequel while not great, has a better storyline as well). While HR still has the conspiracy angle, it puts a far more focus on the human element, the lives of the people, and in turn has a far more relevant storyline in regards to social issues. The ending and the endgame.....far better handled than either the original or the sequel and does bring something new to the franchise. FAR BETTER script...the writing as a whole is much better than the first two games. ========== Really, simply better than the first game...its too bad that their must be an unwritten rule that nothing can be better than the first Deus Ex, especially PC Gamer, who calls it the best game ever (ummmm...no, its far from even the best PC game ever). The new DX completely blows the first game away in EVERY aspect.texasgoldrushShooting is better but since you start out with pretty good shooting, it removes the necessity for Aaugs that assist you with shooting. AI is still daft. I've stolen items by reaching right in front of people and they don't care, i've rummaged through their desks in front of them and they don't even blink. I've also wiped out all the security in The Hive with two grenades (about 10-12 piled up on the dance floor running back and forth because they couldn't open a door to get to where i was at in the one room with the window.) So i just opened the door, lobbed in some grenades and after I left The Hive, the bouncer thanked me for being there. The World and the environment is inconsistant and is something the developers mentioned before the game came out. The game appears more technoloically advanced than the two previous games that take place years later. Boss battles aren't worth mentioning at all. AJ is a character that falls flat in China. Not only is he this outstanding ex swat member and loyal Sarif employee but he has this soft spot for his ex...unless you're a certain asian female that he was warned was bad...then he turns into the typical brainless male. He does a complete 180 all in the name of the developer to push the plot forward. The Narrative should be a bit better because the major plot twist basically plagiarizes the Shadowrun novel "Never Deal with a Dragon" It's a very good book and it makes the plot twist much more interesting seeing as it ws done decades before. Anyone interested in Cyber Punk should be a fan of that book. So really, the game only has the basic improvements of the time on its side. Graphics have come a long way, so has gameplay, and characters these improvements are to be expected. while having more augments, the game has more useless ones. In the original game, i would quickly use up an augment because it actually was needed to improve the character and keep up with the enemies you're fighting, in HR I stockpile Praxis points because my character is already a god. I used the falling power only because i needed to at that moment and had 5 points sitting there. I had three points when I ran into a cloud of gas and was too lazy to walk around...rebreather it is. Lack of enemy types is depressing. The game is far too easy. The gameplay is unbalanced because as a hacker/stealth character, you have far more opportunities to get XP and money than a person that wants to play this game as just a gunner. If you do both like a stealth assassin character then your AJ is godly getting the best of both worlds while exploiting the inadequate AI and regenerating health system. There's really not a melee weapon play through which is what I usually do. Lack of ammo types makes it sad that I can beat a giant mech with a pistol or a few mechs with the Typhoon. All in all I'm glad they made this game. I love the setting and the series but truth be told, HR is a lot less "important" than the original Deus Ex was ;)

And how many RPGs allow you to rummage throguh peoples items without them noticing. It happens in all deus ex games. And the AI in the first game is far dumber than HR. See the youtube vid I posted earlier. I can kill the girls father without her noticing!!!! Hengsha is a stretch but Detroit and Montreal look appropriate. And it does NOT look more futuristic than Invisible War. Better than the boss battles in the original, the part where Gunther flames you to death just after conversation ends. And the fact that the game claims they are dead when you don't kill them. And how is AJ dumb in that scene? If he was, he would have been shot by Yhao. And last time I checked he was trying to play her for more info and did get what he wanted from her, the involvement of Picus. It has some elements in the novel however, it far from plagerizes it. And what major plot twist? The biggest one is concerning Darrow. Calling HR unbalanced? Look at the FIRST game. In fact, the game is VERY easy in the second half. In fact, I don't need to use augs much because a sileneced sniper rifle is game breaking. I can sit back and pick guards off without any repercussion and laugh my way to the end of the game. Even the rocket spammers fall from one sniper shot to the head. Hell I don't even have to zoom. And lets not talk about the ridiculously overpowered Dragon Tooth Sword. The game starts off stupid hard than gets laughably easy. Thats not good game balance. The first two games have far greater balance issues than the new game. in fact the depth of DX1 is wasted from poor gameplay balance. And in fact, HR has MORE usefal augs than the original. Many are required to explore new options. Some routes are blocked until you have the necessary augs. Not really the case in the first two games. Sure the first game is more "important" than HR, however, Fallout 3 is more "important" than New Vegas...do you really want to go there?

It means something cannot be done without something else. As I've sniped many a people in China without that aug, it proves it's not necessary. It makes things easier in a game that is already very easy. 2. You're seriously proud that a game 10 years later has better AI but still falls short of a game like Oblivion which is known to have poor AI? Try and do a fair comparison, both games had poor AI for their times. It's as simple as that. 3. The developers even admitted they made the game look more technologically advanced than the original two games. This shouldn't be an argument just like you shouldn't argue about the Onyx engine. 4. Once again, A bouncer in The Hive thanked me for showing up when I mowed down everyone in the bar. Let's not talk about scripting errors because both games have them and both games have sucky bosses. You're trying to compare turds here and it is pointless. 5. I shouldn't have to explain how his character falls apart because it is so obvious on so many levels but here we go
First he's an ex swat member and he's had great intuition the whole game, he goes into her office knowing she was partly responsible for the hit on his ex, he can jump down the throat of every other person that even mentions megan's name but doesn't get at all aggressive with the person that may have had a part in killing/abducting her, the bartender tells him to be careful of her and also she is the biggest rival of his boss' company...yet he lets her dominate the conversation, and even get into touching distance without a single response from AJ
Terrible character. 6.
the black ops team that infiltrates a corporation carrying a package only to do a switch-a-roo, however instead of putting in an imposter, they put in an imposter dead body so they could get away scott free
7. So going from hard to easy is worse than going from medium to super easy? The same complaints you made about DE1 can be applied to DE:HR with bosses being killed by one hit Typhoons. 8. Because they make 45 different ways to be stealthy doesn't mean the augs are more useful. You can play the game stealthy or as a gunner and most of the augs assist you in playing stealthy. I can complete the game going very similar routes using have 1/2 the augs i'm allowed so no, they are not useful. I've had to use rebreather once in about 8 hours and only because i'm lazy. In dE1 you use it a bunch of times if you want to explore water and gaseous areas. I've used the Icarus one once because I was lazy again...these aren't useful, these are gimmicks. 9. So we agree that DE I is more important...as for Fallout 3 being more important I'll just cut and paste this: You're version of importance is nonsense. As a company, money is most important and New Vegas made more than Fallout 3, as a fan of the Fallout series, staying true to the series is more important and New Vegas did that better than Fallout 3, as a fan of RPG's the game that offers the most depth is most important and that wasn't Fallout 3...to the person that doesn't want to admit they are wrong, making up a pointless definition is important and I guess Fallout 3 falls into that catagory.
Recoil aug is necessary if you are using a heavy rifle, its terrible without it. Sure the first game is more "important" than HR, however, Fallout 3 is more "important" than New Vegas...do you really want to go there?smerlus1. False. Do you know the meaning of Necessary? It means something cannot be done without something else. As I've sniped many a people in China without that aug, it proves it's not necessary. It makes things easier in a game that is already very easy. 2. You're seriously proud that a game 10 years later has better AI but still falls short of a game like Oblivion which is known to have poor AI? Try and do a fair comparison, both games had poor AI for their times. It's as simple as that. 3. The developers even admitted they made the game look more technologically advanced than the original two games. This shouldn't be an argument just like you shouldn't argue about the Onyx engine. 4. Snipers don't need the aug, characters that use combat rifles, machine pistols, and heavy rifles do. They are designed for burst weapons. 2. And how does the AI fall short of Oblivion? It doesn't. its a normal AI for a shooter, not fantastic but servicable. And considering the original is put high upon a pedestal, its fair to call out the poor AI...seems less of the greatest game ever, now. 3. Take a look at HR's Detroit, and take a look at Invisible War's Chicago opening. Clearly, the IW looks far more technologically advanced, even coming from the Collapse. Then consider the tech used in IW...clearly IW has the more technologically advanced setting. 4. And the first Deus Ex is put upon a pedestal, once again. Lets blindly ignore its flaws. And HR has far less than the first game did. And only in one or two rare moments in DXHR is there invincible NPCs, Tong, and the three scientists at Omega Ranch. In the first game, there is way too many invincible NPCs. 5. Considering that Yhao is a very powerful businesswoman and master manipulator AND that she is augmented, it is also reasonable to think she has her own social enhancer as well. In fact, if Jensen can get people to do things that they said they were not going to do through Jensen's augs, so can Yhao lower Jensen's guard. And really, Zhao gave way too much info to Jansen, so both characters let their guards down. And really, Jansen can get back at her later. 6. And you claim plagerism while this twist isn't even the biggest in the game...and that goes to Darrow. One twist =/= whole story. 7. No, the difficulty of HR stays constant except the very last level is easy because of the enemies have no guns. In fact, Ogres are much harder to snipe because a headshot doesn't kill them. Also, the silenced sniper rifle isn't in the normal game and the DLC weapon is significantly less powerful than the normal rifle, so you can't wipe out the level without guards noticing. 8. Not having punch through walls denies you secrets, no jump augmentation, you lose an access to Panchaea and have to go the more dangerous route, you have to have Icarus to get a Darrow book, no strength aug, paths are closed off. You use augs MORE in HR than you do in the first game. In fact the aqualung is not neccessary in the first game to get to that hidden room in Hong Kong as simple healing will do. The augs in HR open more paths, simply put. 9. More important =/= better Also lookely here, Human Revolution has already out sold both earlier games, so its more finacially successful than its predecessors, just like Fallout. And last time I checked, Fallout 3 has more than 100 GOTY awards while New Vegas has barely any (and look who won all those awards, Mass Effect 2), and last time I checked, New Vegas plays like Fallout 3. All Obsidian did was write a new story and tweaked a few elements. Yes New Vegas is better as the bar was raised, however, it was Fallout 3 that is simply the more important game that brought the franchise back and even Tim Cain liked for the most part, what Bethesda did with the series. The first Deus Ex was more important, but Human Revolution is better. Same thing with Fallout 3 and Falout New Vegas.

When you can steal right in front of a character in HR and not in Oblivion...Oblivion's AI is smarter. If you think HR has even decent AI, you must not be playing many shooters. Half Life 2, Far Cry 1 and 2, Crysis 1 and 2, GoW, the COD's all have better AI. 3. Once again you're arguing against an actual fact. The developers admitted they would not gimp their game because of timeline continuity and this is why you see displays that are see through, smaller PC's more advanced looking servers and mechs. You don't know better than the developer so why even try and debate this? 4. I think saying both games have sucky bosses isn't blindly ignoring its flaws. In fact it's the exact opposite. And I also can't kill a single person in any Limb Clinic, or Sarif industries...I never knew this to be a quantifiable catagory to judge a game by. 5. Your aug excuse makes 0 sense because she doesn't make AJ do anything. IF she did have this power why wouldn't she just suggest that he stand over there instead of physically pushing him? because she doesn't have that aug. 6. It's the major plot point of the first 8 hours of the game. I don't feel like a game that copies from a well known cyberpunk novel should get an applause for its story. 7. strange because if i don't get that Typhoon aug then i can't 1 hit - 2 hit kills the bosses in the game....but that wouldn't be easier than killing them with regular weapons.getting more batteries to use augs more doesn't make the game easier and improving weapons doesn't make them more capable of killing enemies, hacking everything so that i have saved up 43 nukes and 52 stop worms doesn't make hacking easier? Hmmmm you have a strange sense of difficulty. 8.sercrets? oh like more money because after Picus my character has 30,000 yen 2 praxis points I don't have an idea what to do with, and a myriad of other items, XP and augs. Before didn't you say the game doesn't get any easier but the jumping augment makes the game easier? Interesting how that works. No strength Augs and there are other ways to finish the game, no Jumping aug and there are other ways to finish the game, no icarus and there are other ways to finish the game. So you admit most of these augs are just to get you extra items that are already abundant in the game... yeah i mean i can see how they're not gimmicky in the least bit. 9. So where did you get HR sales figures from? I'd really like to see them. So because Fallout 3 came out in a year where there was less competition, it's a more important game? Interesting. Once again you're version of importance is nonsense. So I'll ask again. What makes Fallout 3 so important and who is it important to? It's not the developer, it's not the fans and it's not RPG players. Human Revolution's only advantages is that it is made over 10 years later and it gets to have prettier visuals, more up to date gameplay and marginally improved AI. what's awesome is that HR has decided to come out during a packed year...Skyrim, The Witcher 2, Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3 will all come out and over shadow this game when it comes to awards. Seeing as you judge Fallout 3 vs New Vegas on awards...I will garauntee that HR won't get as many awards as the original Deus Ex received and I'll have the last laugh again. Remember...Review sites that give out awards mean much more than your opinion.

And once they get into combat, the AI in HR is pretty good. 3. And when did the developer state this? And once again, compare Invisible War to most of Human Revolution...Invisible War is much more futuristic. And IW was criticized for looking more space age futuristic than cyberpunk. It doesn't MAKE a person do something like mind control, it allows the user to read the emotions of another and assist him in making the most convincing arguement with the most convincing tone possible. I svery possible Yhao had it and used it to lower Jensen's guard and she is confirmed to be a master manipulator. Still, Jansen got what he needed out of her, he is not as dumb as you think he is. 6. The main story threads only real similirities are to, other Deus Ex games and that is the ethics of bioaugmentation. 7 and 8. Having special augs open up paths lettinmg you FLANK or BYPASS the enemy. However, there are MORE enemies in the late game, with better defenses against cheap headshot kills, with more dangerous weaponry. Heavy rifles kill Jensen fast on Deus Ex mode. And Typhoon is not easy to use on Namir, especially on Deus Ex mode because he tends to kill you if you get close. In fact, getting the new biochip, you don't even have typhoon!!!! Icarus allows you to jump behind enemies and take them out...in fact during a quest in Hengsha, I used it to take out a bunch of enemies. it allows yopu to take shortcuts and escape enemies on rooftops. its far from a gimmick. and really augs outside healing are very unnecessary in the first game. And about hacking, the first Deus Ex is ridicoulous, take Basic hacking and you are set, no need for more advanced versions of the skill. 9. The first Deus Ex hardly ran away with awards either, lets see, Diablo II, Majora's Mask, Baldur's Gate II to name a few.texasgoldrush1. you know nothing about guns and this is a fact. To properly maintain aim and to keep the gun from overheating, you're supposed to use small bursts in everything from the M4/M16 to the M2A1.Even in the MK19. These guns can be used fully automatic but only in dire situations and with the guns with a higher rate of fire you run the risk of cook off. 2. So you admit that doing something illegal like hacking a PC forces characters to respond but since they weren't scripted to react to stealing in front of their faces than that's ok? Excuses. Reacting to anything a character does is a form of artificial intelligence. They have very little intelligence when they have trouble opening doors, can't flank properly and don't react to when people steal in front of them. 3. One of the very early interviews. Look it up and once again it's useless to argue this because the developers themselves even admitted to it. What's funny is that I agree with the developer's reason for doing so but you will sit here and disagree with everything i say even when you're dead wrong. 4. No I understand what the Aug does but you have no proof she has it and it also only works in dialogue and in dialogue you have to hear the person talk for a while to know what kind of character they are then choose the right response. Not only does he let her approach him easily but he says very little while she sticks with the "I'm a victim" rabble the whole way through. I also don't know why you think he walked away with something great, he walked into a trap after that. 5. Once again you don't know how stories work. The switcharoo was the first major plot point, normal humans vs aug is a theme. The plot involves uncovering an illuminati plot and stopping it. half the plot was taken from a story that has an extremetly similar premise and setting and you're acting like that should be rewarded. 6. I find it strange how you say the game doesn't get easier but you list all these ways that augs make shooting easier and you can bypass fights or makes battles easier. 7. In a game that you'll never be able to purchase every single aug in a playthrough...they make it so you can approach every situation in so many ways that no single aug is important. I could go the whole game without using rebreather, without using Icarus and without using recoil and still have no trouble beating the game. how are things that you don't ever have to use useful? 8. Not to mention youre comparing sales of a game that launched on 3 systems to games that launched on 2 or 1 and 1/2 in Deus Ex's case. Only advantages huh? How about improved aim, a hardcore mode, companion commands, better factions, a leveling system closer to Fallout 2's, returned DT, better dialogue, better use of skills, better continuity with the lore and the environment. that was done in two years. in 10 years HR improved aim, improved AI, but doesn't reach the average AI of games these days, improve graphics, and improved dialogue options. Oh and don't look now but Deus Ex is rated higher than HR.
