Act grown up. Respect their wishes. Take initiative and do things around the house. Get good grades. Just don't whine when they say no. Some day, they'll realize you can handle it and then you can play all the M rated games you want.

Yeah, it sucks, but you can't have everything in life. The best way to convince your parents is being a good kid.

Heck, my 9 year old niece loves GTA V and even she behaves and never swears.

That's terrible.

Makes sense. Most parents later resent having kids. They can't effectively take it out on untethered bachelors/unmarried neighbors, so you are getting the brunt of their fury...and I do mean fury. They are pissed.

She's a good kid and smart, so I give her the benefit of the doubt. Gets good grades and respects her superiors. Never have I once seen her swear like some ghetto kid. I don't let her see anything sexual and she doesn't enjoy seeing that as she told me. She never goes to the strip joints in GTA V. I feel her moral compass is in contact.

I always hear young kids talking about how they were playing Cod or GTA and can't say I approve of it myself.

I've got 2 kids of my own and wouldn't allow them to play games like that and maybe when you reach my age in 20 years time and have kids of your own you will feel the same,

I think your parents are doing a great job and the fact you aren't on here abusing people that are telling you that you shouldn't be playing it shows that you do have a level of maturity that many others your age range lack. Keep going and soon you will be old enough to make your own decisions in life.

@thomaspy

I have a 13 year old son.

I would love for him to play GTA V as it is so good but there is no way in hell I would let him. It's just not appropriate. You cannot compare it to Payday, it's just not the same.

The subject matter, language, actions on screen are just not suitable for a 13 year old. I know my lad has had a few quick goes at friends houses and there is not much I can do about that.

Giving a child a game like this would be terrible parenting. So in summation do you want terrible parents?

Life is fast kid. Just wait a while. You'll be 17 before you even know it. Then you'll be able to play GTA. Just give it a few days and be patient.

Good. There are a lot of things in this game that you should not be playing anyways. My oldest is 11 and the first scene I thought was not appropriate for her to see, I made her leave the room.
