I'm 18 and I've been a gamer since I was 5. My dad is 54 and he's a gamer as well.

On the day before the Halo 3 launch, I was in an EB games and two guys who looked about 60-65 were talking about whether to use their pension money on Halo 3 or wait for COD4.

The gaming generation is certainly expanding. I'm 24 and I've played, recently, with a bunch of gamers over 50, below 15 and everywhere in between. I have one hardcore gaming friend with 4 kids, some of whom play as well, and he still finds time to play, he's crazy. I plan to be just as crazy and play video games unitl the arthritis in my hands (which I don't have yet :P) forces an amputation and I get a totally awesome starwars like prosthetic!

I'm not a geek, I'm a junkie :D

I'm 15 and my parents bought the game for me, they think freedom of speech should be protectedToriko42

I'm sorry, but what does freedom of speech have to do with buying a game (that you're not old enough to play)?

He's 15. ;) I think at that age we all threw that around with reckless disregard for whether or not it made any sense or applied to the situation whatsoever.

A lot of people here are over the age you mentioned. By the way, you only have to be 17 to get it, since it's M.

I'm 17, but I have no intentions of purhcasing GTA 4. When I was 12 or 13 I loved going to my friend's house where we'd take turns playing GTA 3. But as the years have moved along, I lost interest in it. Now I find myself struggling to enjoy it.

Yeah, silly kids. Where do they get the idea that the Constitution protects them?

Actually... No, you don't have to be 17 in the U.S. The government does not get involved in video game sales at all. If a person has money, a store can sell it.

Pardon my imprecision, I was actually one of the people pointing that out earlier in this thread if you look up a little higher. :P There've just been half a dozen people squabbling over whether games in general and GTA in particular is ratedfor 17+ or 18+ all over the thread, so I thought I'd take a moment to clarify: In the US, purely advisory system says "M rating, appropriate for 17+" in other countries equivalent rating tends to be for 18+.

In other countries, it's 18+. At least here in UK. In USA, it might be different, I don't know.

to clarify i was not stating that it is law that you must be 17 to buy the game, however, in most stores it is their policy.

Actually, I'm 14 and I have it. Normally my parents are against violent games (can't blame em), but I got my marks up, begged and pleaded for a couple of days and put my "convincing" skills to the test. In the end, it was worth it :D

17+ in Canada.

Not to mention some parents dont care, add in siblings, friends, uncles, aunts, naive grandparents, or lazy store employees and there are many ways to get a hold of GTA when you arent 17, or 18.
