So recently, and by recently i mean the last 5 years probably i have left college and worked. My time dwindled and my back log of games grew as i am sure most of you people can relate. Now to the present day i am wanting to complete halo MCC on my xbox one before halo 5. i play 1 2 and 3 on the 360 but it was a long time ago and i need to recap. my problem is i own both consoles and my time is limited. so i have opted for playing halo on easy. I have played games my whole life and don't really have a problem with difficulty this is mainly a time thing, i have played my fair share of hard games on hard, maxed out platinum trophies across all god of war games and enjoyed it all. this is plain and simple i want get the story in and recap the series.

But i still feel like im wasting the game by sticking it on easy, i have also noticed i have done this with another game as well at the moment, persona 4 golden on my vita. i was playing normal and was getting stuck, i was enjoying the story but the difficulty was stopping me, before investing another 20 , 30, 40 etc hours into it i decided to stick it on the easiest setting because i just want to simply play the game.

Is this terrible? especially for someone like me who is well experience in video games as im sure many of you are as well. am i the only one? please tell me in not.

Personally i love to play games on the hardest difficulties, it provides much more of a challenge compared to easier difficulties. I find if im playing a game and its too easy it puts me off and i get bored easily.

Depends on the game, but most of the time,I always prefer normal over easy...easy is like gaming 101 to me,if I know what to expect in the midway,I'm ready for it.

It's perfectly fine to play a game on easy. I typically play most of my games on normal but I certainly have no problem lowering the difficulty if it means that I'll enjoy it more.

It all comes down to why you're doing it. You have a reason to play on easy, and since you've already played the games on a higher difficulty, it doesn't really matter from that perspective. If you want to play for a challenge, or just have a more tense experience, choose a higher difficulty. If you're trying to save time, as you are, then who cares? Go for easy. Pragmatism.

All that matters is that you have a good time. It's your personal time, you're not wasting anything by picking a lower difficulty. It's there for a reason.

I think playing on easy is prefectly fine. Recently in Graces F I had to switch to easy for a few boss battles (Namely Kurt)

Are you having fun? That's all that matters.

If the game is too easy for you, to the point that it's no longer enjoyable due to simplicity, then go ahead and take it up a setting. If you're getting by just fine and enjoying yourself, then what're you worrying about?

Just depends on priorities. Some people are like you, TC, where they have limited time and just want to play through a game without much hassle and others enjoy the challenge.

@Archangel3371: A gamer with your experience plays games on normal and also lowers it down to easy, you should be ashamed of yourself.

@tlg1991: Easy is perfectly fine. Most of the time I play on normal or hard if I want a challenge, but some days I just want to not have to worry about dying, Wolfenstein The New Order was a great example of this. Sometimes I would play on easy and just run around dual wielding, mowing guys down without having to worry about health and staying behind cover.

Sure hope you're not serious. Anons on the internet telling others how to play games, what to like, what to hate, what difficulty to play them on etc. is a big part of what's wrong with the gaming community.

Yeah, they should be ashamed for playing games how they want to play them. (I hope you're just kidding, by the way)

Anyway, I play games on all difficulties, though I usually start out on Normal. Sometimes if I just feel like quickly getting through the game or if I'm having enough trouble, I'll play on Easy. Don't worry about what other people may think. If you start to feel Easy is boring, then you can usually up the difficulty in the middle of a playthrough. As long as you're enjoying the experience, then who gives a shit what difficulty you're playing on.

Gaming supposed to be fun. Not a chore or a hassle. We already have work like you said, why spend your off time doing something else that isn't fun? The only thing that matters is if you are having a good time. Why feel guilty? Games are for fun, so have fun!

Ya Easy for me just makes me bored. Part of the fun of it is having to outsmart the AI in the game so personally I can't stand easy. Though I have been tempted sometimes on games like mass effect to just Story or easy mode it all the way through, as I don't really want to have to take the time too beat them again.

Are you trying to show off about being good at single player games lol?

People should only bother to try and show off if they are Master/Grandmaster in SC2, global elite in cs, high elo in quake, and whatever the high ranks in mobas are.

To the TC, easy mode is fine.

@Bigboi500: @JigglyWiggly_: I am sorry bro I am just telling it like it is if you have say 10 years experience playing whatever type of games you like and you still have to play on easy it means you suck.

Nope, it just means your attitude betrays you by showing how immature you really are. We're talking about video games. Toys bro. Don't take your playthings so seriously because nobody else will give a **** what your gaming opinions are, or what difficulty you play on, and looking down your nose at others just makes you look like you're stupid.

As long as you enjoy the game and don't complain that it's too easy because you played it on easy then yes

Don't get me wrong i do play games on hard, i mean i restarted witcher 3 from normal to the hardest difficulty because it was to easy recently. to be honest though i think i might bump up the difficulty on halo im just on halo 2 in the MCC and the first game was a drag, im not sure if it was because i had it on easy and it was boring or if its essentially a pretty old linear game, the story is good but after playing stuff like witcher 3 i dont know, im not trying to slate the game at all i enjoyed it back in the day.

Feelling shame for what difficulty level I play a game on? That would be a very silly thing to do.

Games are first and foremost meant to be played for fun.

If you're not enjoying the time invested, there's no point in playing it.

How you play a videogame is up to you. It does not matter if you play a game on Easy, Normal, Hard or Insane difficulty. It the end no one is really going to care if you play the game on it's hardest setting or it's easiest or just normal setting. This is not a issue worth losing sleep over.

I always play on the Normal/standard/medium setting. Once I finish the game, Then try it on the hard setting and then the Insane/hardest setting. Or if I cannot get past a level/boss, the play on the easy setting.

It would only matter if you are playing in an official competition or trying for a world record, But beyond that what setting you play a videogame on really does not matter.

play at whatever difficulty you have the most fun at.

i recently had to drop down alien isolation down from hard to novice (one below easy lol) to get past a particular bit. i was getting to the point where i was seriously considering giving up on it, but dropping the difficulty got me through and i was able to carry on enjoying the game. and that's what it's all about

Exactly. If you enjoy the game more on easy, then what's the problem? I usually start a game on easy (depending on the game), and work my way up.

Easy is fine; I play most my story driven games on easy to save time since I'm mostly in it for the story...now if I really also enjoy the gameplay then I either restart on a higher difficulty or I save it for a replay. As is, most games don't interest me past the first playthrough, so adding extra time by making fights longer doesn't really appeal to me.

Of course if the game is mainly aimed at testing your skill, I normally go for higher difficulties as well because they are normally poor in story, so easy won't be any fun...

I guess it also helps that I have more games than time...if I bought a game every 3 or 4 months I probably wouldn't be in a hurry to fly through it and then have nothing else to play.

You can play a game however you want, especially if we're talking single player. Nobody should dictate your enjoyment.

However with that being said, my idea of a game (video game or not) is something that will require an element of skill/agency to play, that is one of my pillars of what makes a fun game. I've never played a game on easy, I find it pointless and completely boring. I usually opt for 'Hard' mode straight away, unless a game is brutal or more narrative based, at which point I'll go for 'Normal'.

The most fun part of a game to me, is the satisfaction of overcoming a challenge. If my time was limited to such a degree, I'd rather my play sessions feature a challenge and make a snail's pace progression rather than trivialising the challenge to make meaningless progress in a title. Each to their own though.
