I don't think it matters who developed it. A game's a game. Infact the shooting and fighting mechanics were identical to RDR. Yes it's a different game, but in the end people are entitled to critique it. Shouldn't get a free pass because the idea was cool._Cadbury_
The graphics appear to be built around the RDR graphics engine, but the gameplay is not the same, IMHO. The third-person perspective works OK when riding a horse or a wagon, but not so well for driving a car at much higher speeds on busy L.A. streets. The RDR story wasn't linear nor did it grow tiresome. The gun battles in RDR were considerably more challenging than those of L.A. Noire and there was much to do in its rich, vast, open world. I agree that L.A. Noire shouldn't get a free pass on the gameplay just because it's trying to be unique, although I can understand how those who don't care for shooters might be willing to overlook its gameplay flaws for that reason.
I hated it it was alrite but the missions are repetitive, maybe its just me because it is a widely liked game.
why? why is it a move forward? ive heard so many people say, "but.... its innotive!" all you do is circle rooms for clues (BORING) 30second chase scenes (BORING) and interogate (BORRRRING). it tried something different but nothing that others developers will take note of except for the face technology shallow gameplay (more like an interactive movie) with a bad, disjointed boring story = terrible gameonebeelo
yeah...the only thing that's new is the facial thing ( and sometimes that doesn't look too hot either )... everything else is shallow.
Interogation is shallow as f***...you never know what cole's gonna say, doubt is weird...i would think when you doubt something, he'll be..well...doubtfull...but usually cole starts screaming and acusing...
Finding clues is extremely easy...shooting is easy...everything's easy
The parts where you have to follow someone, on foot or in a car are just broken ... The game told me I lost the person I was following when I could see them...right in front of me...i could see the bloody car ... and that happened more than once
Meh...it had great potential, but it failed in my opinion...miserably
The atmosphere is there, but everything else is plain flat and boring

Thus I am mystified by the high ratings. The novel concept and facial animation aside, the gameplay is mediocre at best and inexcusably bad at its worst. Somewhere along the way they seem to have forgotten that it is ultimately the gameplay that makes or breaks a game.
