I wouldn't say it's overrated but I don't always have a strong cause to play games online even if they are multiplayer-centric.

I don't think it is. I'm not a huge multi-player fan, but I do enjoy playing online co-op stuff from time to time.

Maybe, but I do get my money's worth out of multiplayer. It fulfils that competitive streak within me; there's nothing more satisfying to me than going online, blowing up people and coming out tops in a Free-For-All match on Call of Duty after a 10-hour-long study session.

But then again, there's nothing like sitting down at home or at an arcade, staring down your opponent, then engaging in a winner-takes-all fight to the death on Street Fighter, Marvel Vs. Capcom, or even Dance Dance Revolution and Jubeat.

I think online is very overrated because it doesn't give as much of a sense that you're playing with another person like in local multiplayer. The worst thing about it is that it requires an internet connection to actually work. Friends are free, internet service is not.
