Never heard a Sonic fan hate SA2 before, not saying your wrong or anything opinion wise, but, wow, hundred and hundreds, of sonic fans online and off and someone actually hates SA2? (BTW I didn't like it either.) Huh, not that I don't believe you but why? Also, how is this worse? It's even crappier than sonic adventure 2, which is quite the accomplishment.

played it on the PS2, it's pretty badrilpasPS2 port is terrible. They didn't even put effort putting it on there, so much wrong in the first 10 minutes of gameplay.

There are quite a lot of stupid sonic fans on the net, mostly those that were kids when it came out, and Adventure 2 was never received as a AAA quality title.
Same terrible gameplay, only now they added guns; stupid side missions that require you to collect or kill an exact amount of stuff which results in backtracking; unbelievably ridiculous story. It's sonic the hedgehog, so hearing the word "damn" and seeing all this "edgy" crap comes off as such a joke.

My whole thread is based on the GC version (although the Xbox version is good to with less slow-down and blur. But there are some problems that are added and removed in both the GC and XBOX ver. I will have to beat the Xbox version again for a more focused confirmation) as for the PS2 version, everything is better on the others than the Ps2 version and controls, and Shadow reacting to your controls is one of them. In fact, i think all Sonic games (even the collections where emulated terribly and have slow reactions0 on the PS2 is like the worse version.
That only really applies to the dark forces which of course are just a bunch of unintelligent monsters. GUN doesn't attack you the first time, but then they call you a thread because you were seen talking and being around the dark forces so in reality, the factions attacking you make sense. Heck, going the android route there are no factions. To be honest it is a love or hate game. The main problem are the stupid guns, the change to the 4Kids dub and that each faction will always attack you, regardless of allegiance.
But, if you can ignore that, then it can be fun. I repeat, it canbe fun.

Yeah, androids is Shadow vs Robotnik. Anyways, I had a good time with that game back in 2005-2006 and it was a good game for pass the time. Sadly, it hasn't aged well. Miroku32Hasn't aged well? What 3D sonic game from that era aged well at all?

Shadow the Hedgehog underrated? IMO No.
The aim assist on the guns and the platforming in the game was executed rather well by sonic team as was the soundtrack. The branching pathways from level to level were handled rather smoothly most of the time.
The rest of the gameplay was a different story. Bad Enemy placement, some frustratingly irritating designed missions with awkward level design, A few technical issues(not present in the GC version to my knowledge) and a large amount of repetition was too much.
As you know playing the game and picking a side to help every mission had 2 bars(Good and Evil) which would fill up the more you helped one side in a particular mission. Sonic Team had a nasty habit of taking points away from you by placing Allied NPC's in the way of level progression. For example doing one of the light side missions helping GUN, I would have to kill GUN soldiers which would cost me a couple 1000 points because without them dying, I couldn't gain access to the spring I needed to progress.
A lot of the missions involving killing or collecting items set a bare minimum amount of said objects(Kill 40 soldiers and they only put 40 solidiers in the level). Given the numerous pathways possible not only in game, but in the levels themselves this often created more backtracking or slowed me down for longer periods of time than I would have liked.
Repetition was also a big issue that I encountered in Shadow as well as Heroes for me, given that I found playing the same level fun only so many times in order to satisfy mandatory conditions.
Westopolis was fun the first 2 or so times with all the explosions and enemies about fighting for control, but after the 6th or so time, it feels like more of an errand, a nusience than anything else. I didn't find having to play through the same first level 10 times in a row to beat an open ended game fun.
The bosses in the game I also saw as a weakness as all of them were recycled(making multiple appearances, not from older games). Granted they were all original in design, however facing the same boss about 4 or so times loses it's luster as well.
The only recycled bosses were the end (of story branch) bosses, excluding Eggman of course, so uh. They could have added more though, I mean i find it funny you could help evil or help good or inbetween then at the last second switch sides for the final boss which in those cases (excluding the Eggman scenario) either had sonic and super fighting robot megaman trying to kill you or the Dark guy trying to kill you. It's very easy to fill those bars so I have no idea how the point thing is even a valid complaint. The game can get repetitive, yes, but then in order to get the real ending you don't have much of a choice, but other than the first immdiate 3 levels you can branch off wherever you want and try to cover the grid. I would like to add that there are missions that have time limits or if you screw up it goes on an auto choice for you, luckily it does not happen much f the game except that it happens during times where you have to beat it to get to a certain spot on the stage grid. There was repetition in Sonic heroes? How is there repetition in Sonic heroes? Getting all A rankings are optional. Shadow the hedgehog does in some ways unless you actually avoid screwing up and getting all the gray spots in the grid, which itself sometimes requires the same areas, although they do throw stuff at you unlike SA2. Not that I am defending the game and calling it great but comparing it to SA2 and heroes seems odd to me. I do agree with you in general however.Shadow the Hedgehog underrated? IMO No.

The bars complaint is more of a mechanical one. I understand the whole choice thing behind it, but it becomes somewhat redundant trying to help one side when they preven you from advancing in the level. That's just a poor design choice in my personal opinion.
I realize the branching pathways become a viable option somewhat early, but I was still somewhat bugged by the progression towards them at times, especially considering the amount of times replay was needed.
When I mentioned Repetition in heroes, I meant the team stages, the regular story. Every one of the 4 teams had to play slightly modified versions of the exact same stage, no matter what, to unlock the true ending of the game, which I found aggravating, but the smooth quick gameplay and platforming on top of not to many instances of bad enemy placement removed a considerable amount of aggrivation.

I'm also a Sonic fan and I also belive that SA and SA2 were massively overrated and just not that great. Whoever programmed the cameras for those games is out of their mind.
I played the PS2 version, and to tell the truth I actually liked it. That's because I'm a biased Shadow fan though :P The camera controls were awful and Shadow skated too fast, but once I got used to it (another way of saying 'I learned to push the analog stick only halfway') I had fun with it and there are multiple endings too :D

Come on tho how many games from the mid 2000s aged well graphically??Keepitoldschool
I was playing Crystal Chronicles (2004) the other day and I still think it's beautiful. I'm sure plenty of games from the era look fine, even if they're technically outclassed.

it's the 2nd funniest behind 06 If by funny you mean that some of the animations were downright embarrasing to watch, I somewhat agree with you. If by funny you mean it was awfully awful, I don't.It was decent, I hated the single player but when I was younger I enjoyed a bit of the multiplayer with my friend. Nowhere near as much as I enjoyed SA2's multiplayer, but it was still alright.
