Is starting a gaming YouTube channel in 2017/2018 a bad idea?

Much controversy has been going around about people starting their channel too late. But is that the truth? Is it to late for someone to start a gaming channel or start any topic for that matter?

What is the difference between a famous gaming YouTuber such as Dashie or TheRadBrad and a new YouTuber releasing the same content?

"The same content" Well there's a problem for starters. If they can already get that content from a number of different sources why would they be interested in you? The YouTube gaming market is absurdly over saturated, if you were to try and do a channel in today's market you'd need to try to do something original to stand out. Or just produce clickbait crap, either seems to work.

Given that everyone has a channel these days...

What you gotta do is to build a time machine, and get back to the early days of tube when it was still considered cool to be tuber.

Yes! All the yotobe channel users on this. You have to build a time machine for quite a long time and if you were to try and do something in the market you would need to try something original to stand out.

Well I believe that if you want to start a Youtube channel, your passion on creating contents must be higher or stronger than your dream of becoming famous. That's the first step I think. Then start creating contents and always ask for feedback instead of asking for like and subscribe. And from those feedback improve your contents until you get other people's attention. I think after getting people attention you'll already know what you need to do next just don't forget to always enjoy and Passion > Dream of becoming famous.

If you have to think about the reason for starting a youtube channel, then you're not in the game to post content regardless of what the others may think, when it should be a hobby turned professional otherwise. The ideas will come in time, so try to focus on keeping up with the latest trends in presentation and technique, for when the content arrives. Who knows? A good editor will have found his place in treating the ideas of others too.

I don't think it's too late, but I do think that being late means you have to work harder and provide a higher quality product. If you're just another gamer standing in their bedroom with the ceiling fan on in the back ground no one is going to care. If you have a quality production that compliments your passion for gaming people will naturally gravitate towards you and your content.
