Is Sunset Overdrive worth getting a Xbox One for?

I already have a PS4 and love it, but as most of you probably already know, I can't play Sunset on it. I don't see myself playing anything but Sunset on the Xbox One, but the game is really making me wonder if I should just grab a system during the price drop and just keep it for any more exclusives that come out in the near future.

Is it worth it for one game or should I just wait until there are more games that I want to play on it before I make the purchase?

I'd never buy a console for 1 game... but if there are other Xbone exclusives that interest you, I say go for it.

I've bought systems for one game before.

But seeing as the game is probably only fully-enjoyable if you play online, I'm sure it'd be best to get it now.

Luckily, Xbox Ones are on sale now.

I really wouldn't recommend any system for just one game but this game does look great plus I think there's a really good selection of games already available that make the Xbox One worth getting with more games soon coming especially Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Also with a pretty good sale currently happening I think now is a great time to pick up an Xbox One.

You'd spend $400 on a console for one game? Are you nuts?

@foxhound_fox: Nope, he's an enthusiast. I would purchase a console for one game, there's a bunch of multiplats to fill the rest.

No game is worth 400 (and 60) dollars. If you have other Xbox One exclusives you're interested in, go for it. But you have Infamous Second Son, which is all you need if you just want to run around in an open world shooting stuff.

With the current sale going on you can pick up the Xbox One Sunset Overdrive bundle for $350 which technically means that you're getting the system for $290. That's a really good deal imo.

I'd get the bundle. There are sure to be other games you'll want over the course of its life so why not?

Infamous is no substitute for SSOD, at least not imo. As an owner of both games and both consoles I felt "meh" about Infamous:SS but I've been consistently wow'd by SSOD, trust me when I say it plays much differently.

I would say yes to getting an X1. If you're interested in SSOD and the other exclusives this holiday, why not? The sales are good. You also get all the big multi-plats too, it's a good time to buy an X1 or a Wii U. I personally like this competition the PS4 sales have generated, makes the other guys fight harder, and consumers win.

Edit: Also wait what? 460$? Isn't the SSOD bundle 349.99?

Xbox one has Forza Horizon 2, Dead Rising 3, Ryse, etc, so some exclusives. Xbox One is more useful as a dedicated console.

To anyone who has the game: I am also interested in getting the game but I would want my son to be able to play. Is there an option in setting to turn off the profanity and adult language? The rest is appropriate for him but the language. I know some games have this option and am hoping this does.

Not if you have a decent PC. The developer has practically confirmed a PC release on more than one occasion.

Hard to say. Personally I think Sunset is the best exclusive X1 has by far, but buying a system to play just one game has always seemed foolish to me. If there is anything else coming to X1 that you'd be interested in like Halo MCC, which is coming in just over a week, then I'd say go for it, because if nothing else Halo MCC would last you a VERY long time, and there does appear to be more exclusives currently coming to X1 than PS4.

Yes there is. In the options menu under Gameplay there is a "Gore" toggle, and under Audio there is a "Vulgarity" toggle.

I own both consoles, and while I think sunset overdrive is a pretty good game, I don't think its worth buying an X Box One for. I bought the X Box One first, and the PS4 second, and after playing a few games on the PS4, I switched all of my x box pre ordered games over to PS4, because I think its the better console. I hadn't even touched my X Box One for over 4 months, until overdrive came out. If you really feel passionate about Insomniac and sunset then I guess you should get it, but I just don't think its really worth it to buy another console just for one exclusive.

It plays differently, but it's still practically just running around in an open world shooting stuff. I'm an owner of both games as well, and if I was toying with an idea of getting an Xbox just for this one game, when I already have Infamous, with many other freeworld games, it wouldn't be enough for me. Hell, I love Dead Rising, so I bought the Xbox One just for that, which I sincerely regretted because until Sunset, I haven't turned the thing on since January.

And 400 + 60 is speaking in general for anyone who wants to buy a system for one game excluding bundles.

It'll be on PC soon enough and then it will probably hit a steam sale and be $5 in the future. I would say wait if that's your sole reason for buying an Xbox One; there are other games to fill the void of boredom.

I wouln't advocate buying a console for one game. You have a holiday season coming up with a ton of good releases and more than likely you'll be picking up one or two of those titles.

If you were to buy an X1 I'd recommend getting an additional title or two during the holiday season so that you aren't left with just SSoD. If you feel like you're going to get the multiplats for your PS4 I would hold on X1.

@JustPlainLucas: I just disagree, I don't think sunset and infamous are enough alike to just play one instead of the other. I think you're over simplifying and discrediting sunsets unique gameplay when you say "it's just going around and open world shooting stuff". But idk maybe you aren't enjoying it as much as I am. (over 20 hours in, and I sold infamous around 14)

But that's the thing it's not like sunset is the only game that's coming out, Xbox has a really good holiday line up, there is no shortage of things to play. If he's interested in sunset already it's worth grabbing a bundle at its new price and enjoying a holiday of awesome games.

That is of course my opinion on it.

This is absolutely true. Its insanely incorrect for anyone to state if you played Infamous there is not need to play Sunset Overdrive. Infamous is not remotely close to offering what Sunset is offering and I would strongly recommend ignoring any suggestion that tries to meld these two games are similar experiences because they are simply not. I have played both games extensively and Sunset is the better of the two by a healthy margin.

Short answer: No

Long answer: Hell no

Don't get me wrong, its a great game but ultimately a forgettable one and just overall not something I'd bring up if I was talking about system sellers. The customization is great and the movement and combat is well done but its ultimately the epitome of an 'all style no substance' kind of game if you ask me. The Xbox has a pretty decent lineup though, check out whats getting released for it so far and see if that tickles your fancy enough to buy the console.

@theothernormal: Its $350 now for the white sunset overdrive bundle, I just ordered mine. I say get it but not for just one single game. I got it because I want to play Halo MCC, Sunset, Quantum Break, forza horizon 2, and dead rising 3.....So get it if you want some other exclusives.

You can be 99% sure that within max a year Overdrive will be released on PC.

So no its not worth getting a X1 for.

I don't think its worth getting a console for.
I just bought the bundle yesterday but if I hadn't got it for $250 I wouldn't have bought it. I also have a PS4 and didn't really need a One but for that price it seemed worth it. I've played about 4 hours of sunset overdrive and while its fun, its not worth getting the console just for that game. I know I'll want the master chief collection, the next tomb raider, ect. I just got this cause it was pretty cheap.
