What did you expect? This was totally a flame-bait thread to argue with Zelda fans.
That's true. Zelda fans are a tough bunch to please, amost as bad as Final Fantasy and Bioware... But those are probably some of the worst fan bases.
I really don't udnerstand how some people can say that certain games in the series are "trash"... I have enjoyed every one, to varying degrees, but they are all at least "decent."

It's actually the opposite, Zelda fans aren't that hard to please. The games haven't changed much over the years and they sell as well as almost any other franchise.

lol, you're still on this? If a game sucks in most every conceivable way, I don't see how calling it "trash" can be deemed as inappropriate. It's not like our distaste towards it is stopping you from enjoying it.

Zelda cycle is when a new game (usually 3D one because people seem to froget the handheld ones exist for some reason) is released and everyone thinks it's crap. Then they start reminiscing about how much better the older game was.
i.e. Twilight Princess is released and everyone hates on it, saying that Wind Waker was a million times better. Then Skyward Sword is released and everyone starts hating on it, claiming that TP was a million times better. I've seen it happen.
And the fact that there are a ton of polarizing opinions about the state of the series as it is right now shows that they're ahrd to please. SS mixes it up by changing the way the game is structured and people complain about how it's not enough like the old games. And yet, people hated on TP because they said it was too similar to OoT/ ALttP.
You get my point.
Super Metroid wins, hands down. The atmosphere, the music, the game play...just revolutionary at the time!etmaul
Super Metroid is definitely up there.
Incredible as Prime is, I can't quite put it on the same pedestal as Super.
Honestly, this doesn't really happen. You're just seeing what you want to see. Many of the people who criticized TP still do, including me. And I criticize SS as well, along with a decent amount of others, but certainly not "everyone," as you claim. Most people praised TWW, most people praised TP, and most people praise SS. Some people don't like the required fetch quests that have been present in those three games, but we're a minority. There is no proof of a cycle.Zelda cycle is when a new game (usually 3D one because people seem to froget the handheld ones exist for some reason) is released and everyone thinks it's crap. RE I half understand, I mean the new games are awful as horror games but they are still pretty fun action games at the very least, so I think they should suck it up.

You just pretty much said that they changed RE from a horror series to an action series. And we're supposed to just "suck it up" as fans? What a bunch of bull.
Would you just "suck it up" if they changed your Pokemon games from RPGs to beat em ups?

What about RE Revelations? Maybe that statement was poorly worded... I mean that while I undertand they're upset about the change fromm horror to action, I think they should acknowledge that the games are still decently fun.
That's the thing about game series... When they're different, fans jsut instantly say they're bad, when, in reality, thy're usually pretty solid. Sorry for the (very) poor wording. Didn't really say what I was trying to get across.

I loved RE4! It actually felt like horror and didn't force a co-op action game on me, like RE5 did. The zombies were gone, which was a disappointing departure. But at least they kept the setting, the story, and the characters in the realm of horror.

There are a few people who think that it wasn't very good. I say screw 'em. That one part in the Prison near the end where the Regenerator was walking towards you was really well done.

I'm perfectly in my damn mind, OoT is severely overrated; 3rd best Zelda game behind MM and Link to the Past.
How is OoT overrated. Just because a game gets too much undeserved attention dosen't make it overrated. It may get too much attention, but at least OoT is the masterpiece that people say it is. And telling the truth about a Zelda game is every bit better than lying about a Zelda game.I believe it is overrated because it is an average Zelda game. Nothing else to be said, it does so much that other Zelda games do better.

I also think 4 is the best in the series. I think 5 is still a decent entry in the series, even though it took a little step into the action. I beat it in one sitting.I haven't played any of the Zelda games enough to actually finish them, but I've definitely spent more time with OOT than any/all the others combined. It's always been a bunch of fun. All my friends who have actually followed/played all the Zelda games say Majora's Mask is better, though.

No. Calling the best game of all time is nearly impossible because there are so many games worthy of that its just your opinion so there is no right answer. At the very least it has to be genre.
You guys ocrania of time sold 8 million copy's. Dont think it as overated because it seems to be #1 on everyones best games list.awesome8030
That's what makes it overrated.
I agree with the consensus that gaming is highly subjective. I don't think that a "best game" exists because people choose their own favorites and have their own reasons. "Best" implies that it is 100% well-regarded and that will just never happen.
Â
OoT is not my personal favorite of all time, but I did love it. I also loved Majora's Mask to a lesser extent. I liked Wind Waker more than both, but I think you'll be hearing the most praise for one or both of the N64 titles... because that's just how today works I guess. I'm not arguing, I'll hold fast to my own opinions.
